Buying PlayStation 3 80GB

Saturday, October 31, 2009 by Migo - Leave a comment

I bought the PS3 for my husbands birthday and he could not be happier. The graphics are AWESOME and the blu-ray videos look amazing. We have no complaints really, but I feel the box is kind of large and makes a lot of noise after a couple hours of game play.....which is normal in my house now. I was a little worried about losing my husband to this new fun "toy", but we will make sure to have some game/life balance. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I am a movie and gaming fanatic, and I have to say that in both areas, the Playstation 3 delivers in spades. On one hand, you have a high end cpu bringing to life amazing gameplay, images, and sounds, giving you the most impressive graphics this side of Crysis, via Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, Call of Duty 4, etc. On the other, you have the best blu ray player on the market under a grand. It loads faster and gives a sharper audio and visual than standalones that cost hundreds more than the PS3, has wi-fi and ethernet internet connections for quick and easy firmware updates, and the disc playback memory is insane. Take out the blu ray you were watching, turn the PS3 off and unplug the system. Plug it in, turn the machine back on, insert the BD, and you are right back where you left off...

I will not lie, when the PS3 was marketed at a much higher price, I was one of many who thought that was ridiculous. However since the price dropped I purchased the Playstation 3 myself; I have to say the current price is reasonable to the quality you get in this machine. You can upgrade your movie and gaming system to HD in one purchase. If you were to buy, say, a 360 (which I own and love, it's just not as much of a deal as the PS3), and a blu ray player, that's a minimum 500 dollar purchase for barebones on each. This is anything but.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Nothing new really I just feel it's the best value with the least trouble. Built in WiFi, HD, Blu-Ray, and HDMI did a lot toward my purchse of this vs. the 360. It has functioned flawlessly and was easy to set up.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I just purchased this model from amazon and I love it. It doesnot play ps2 games, but in my opinion it doesn't need to. I checked with gamestop and ps2 games are being fazed out as we speak, and only about 13 titles will be released this year for ps2. So if you don't mind it not playing your old ps2 games buy this system. The graphics are very good for my non-hd t.v. I have a wireless router so I have my ps3 in a different room and it picks up the wifi signal with no problem. I recommend this to anyone!!!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Where To Buy PlayStation 3 80GB

Being an avid gamer and having owned both previous Playstation consoles, I will be the first to say that Playstation 3 is the most complete experience of any console ever made. The hardware itself is the most powerful today, and leaves lots of room for optimization and power. Since the PS3 console is compatible with many media formats and also includes a web browser, it can be looked at as a complete multi-media package rather than just a console. The most important thing to note is that the Playstation 3 has some of the best exclusives of the generation, with many returning AAA titles such as Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid. Of any console I have ever played, I recommend the Playstation 3 the most.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

First off, the other reviews do an excellent job at describing the technical aspects of the PS3 system. They are also good at pointing out the differences between the new and older models of the PS3. This review focuses more on personal taste between the three systems.

The PS3 was my first new-generation console. Before my purchase, I didn't have any previous experience with the PS3 aside from basic research and customer reviews. I had seen the XBox 360 in action from my friends and was pretty impressed with what it offered. When it was time to make a purchase, I decided to go with the PS3 because of the blu-ray player, built-in hard drive and wireless capabilities, and its free online service/store opposed to the XBox 360.

After I got the PS3 up and running, I was immediately impressed with the picture and sound quality that blu-ray discs/games offered. I wasn't initially impressed with the PlayStation Store. The XBox 360 had more options such as game demos, game downloads, TV, and movies/trailers. This was early summer 2008. As of now, I would say that the PlayStation Store has improved. They now feature movies/TV for rental and/or purchase that are similar to what the XBox 360 offers. In my opinion, XBox 360 still leads in game choices.

A month later, I bought the Nintendo Wii. This purchase was pretty impulsive because I came across one in a small electronics store. I guess you can say I was a victim of the "hype." To my defense, I grew up on Nintendo and I was longing to play the new "Zelda" and "Mario" games, which we all know are exclusive to Nintendo. The Wii offers free online capabilities and a storefront that allows you to download old Nintendo/Sega games. I should also point out that it has built-in wireless. The only thing that it lacks is true HD quality. The games are also geared towards family and groups, making this console an ideal party pleaser. Most people that I know who own a Wii either have a PS3 or XBox 360 to go with it.

Six months later, I went out and bought the XBox 360 Arcade. I was slightly ashamed that I had all three gaming systems at this point. I bought the XBox mostly because of its deal with Netflix... I waited to see if Netflix would come to the PS3 but it didn't seem promising. The extra padding for purchasing the XBox 360 was that I would be able to download some of the arcade games that weren't offered on the PS3. This is the cheapest gaming console that you can buy (arcade version). However, you need to think about the extra costs. If you are using wireless internet, you will need to purchase a wireless adapter, which runs for 80-100 dollars. If you are purchasing the Arcade version, you will need to purchase a hard drive if you plan to download media. This ranges from 20-135 dollars, depending on size. You also need to purchase a subscription to XBox Live, which is the name for its online services/marketplace. It is cheaper to buy a year subscription rather than monthly. A year's subscription costs between 39-50 dollars. The high end of this brings the cost up to the 400 dollar price tag for the PS3. This is something to think about if you are basing your decision on price alone.

After owning all three game systems for a few months, I believe that the PS3 is the better (or mostly used) system. Aside from playing Mario Kart online, I only play the Wii when I have friends over. If I want to view movies on Netflix or play casual arcade games, I use the XBox 360. The PS3 seems to offer everything else I need from these game systems. I use the PS3 to watch Blu-ray movies, rent movies, photo/music storage, and full gaming. Another feature of the PS3 that I enjoy is being able to take movies/music/photos from my computer and play them on the PS3. I usually place my flash drive in the USB port on the PS3 and transfer my media to my PS3 hard drive. I'm not sure if the XBox 360 allows this type of connection unless you purchase a program from independent software companies that enable media sharing between your computer/laptop and your gaming system.

Hopefully, this review was helpful in deciding whether or not the PS3 is best suited for your gaming/media needs. It appears that each gaming system has its own special benefit that makes the decision harder. If you do decide to purchase the PS3, I recommend spending the extra 100 dollars for the upgrade, which doubles the hard drive capacity and includes the "Uncharted" game. Both upgrades are well worth the extra money... I'm close to filling up my 80GB hard drive after nine months.

Well I'm an avid gamer and I have owned all of the consoles from the NES and Saturn all the way up to the 360. I really like this system because it is has an operating system similar to a computer. Not to mention it's the only Console that comes with a Blu-Ray player for free. You can use almost any bluetooth device, USB device or Media device with a USB interface with the PS3. Most are plug and play but, if you wanted to you could install a separate operating system like Lynux or the like to run whatever you want.

On a Lighter note the games are great. This console is geared towards the adult gamer but does offer plenty for the whole family.

Bottom Line:
If you Like to play games, watch movies, surf the internet, sort photos, and pretty much have a computer that is connected to your TV then buy this PS3.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Top Quality

This is a really well made product. With so much hype these days in technology, its nice to see someone try to put out a nice item. It works great for DVDs and games. However, for the Internet, or pairing with my computer via WiFi, I am finding some deficits. The main one is that I can not seem to control the PS3 from my computer. Any pairing is more of a pull technology from the PS3 than a push from the computer. Can I access the PS3 hard drive from my computer, I have not been able to yet. I can not find the PS3 hard drive in 'My Computer' and it does not show up as an object in my network even though I have successfully paired it with the network and have no problem getting onto the internet using the PS3...but not from the computer, only from the game controller and somewhat from the bluetooth keyboard. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, but if I am, its not easy to find documentation on what I should be doing differently.

Overview: I got this console 2 years ago and I love it. Games are high quality and blu-ray compatible.

Out of the box: It does not take a lot of work to get this system set up. After plugging in all the necessary cables the system will guide you through the rest.

DVD: Dvd's are played crystal clear on the PS3 because of its Blu-ray reaer Regular DVD's as well as Blu-Ray can be played on the PS3.

System: the PS3 can be hooked into a ethernet cable or wireless connect. The system can play a slideshow out of pictures and play music. Bluetooth enabled, the controllers for the system are wireless and is comatible with earpieciecs such as Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Earpiece (Black)[Retail Packaged] which i find works well with the system

Games: Obviously this is why people buy this console is for the games. The PS3 has a wide selection of games and they can be played in high def. This is very cool and makes the experience more enjoyable.

This console is one of the most enjoyable yet. It is able to surf the web, play DVD's, music, make slideshows, and of course play games, all in high def. This console is easily worth the money.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I'm giving my opinion from a different perspective...my daughter could probably give you all the technicle reasons she loves the PS3, but I'm going to share mine from the perspective that I don't play games on it. I bought it for my daughter because she had to have the system...and of course she had to have the 80 gig. I know she loves it, and I can say that picture is incredible!! The games are so real you could almost step into the picture. But I'm loving it for watching my blu ray movies, and really any movies. It's got an icredible picture quality, the sound is awesome, and if there is anyone out there who has it and is not using it as their #1 dvd player, you are so missing out. I can actually upload movies onto it and watch them w/out the dvd!! How cool is that? And while I did purchase the remote to it, I have figured it out all on my own, and can now play online games. It's just too easy to set up!! I'm thrilled with it...and with Sony.
I never thought I'd find myself being such a Playstation fan!!!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Although it might cause America's youth to become morbidly obese, it is an excellent media center. It is not just a gaming platform, it is good for HD games, HD movies, HD music, HD photography, Internet browsing (not the greatest browser, but the internet is on my TV!), and so much more. Updates for the OS come around every few months. It evolves like Cartman's Trapper Keeper!
I was a little disappointed that PS2 games can't play on my system, but my hands are full with PS3 games anyway. I've upgraded the hard drive with no difficulties. A 1 minute you-tube video (there are plenty) shows how easy it is to change out hard drives. I've got a 500GB HDD. I bought a 40GB PS3 for $300.00 and this HDD for $100.00. $400.00 got me a 500GB PS3, so don't buy based on HDD size. I now have all my music on it. TV shows and movies too. Not to mention about 20-25 FREE Demos from PS Store. The demos are excellent ways to shop for new games to buy. I think PS3 hasn't completly broken out of it's shell because people just aren't ready for it's power. YOU CAN RUN A BUSINESS FROM THIS MACHINE, if you were so inclined.

Purchased the PS3 along with an Onkyo HT-S1700 home theater system and a Samsung LCD. Love the setup. I can use the PS3 for games, movies, internet access. Has two USB connections on the front that I can connect a portable hard drive to for extra storage. I purchased the PS3 when Sony Cards was offering the [...] on new accounts. Would not have paid the 399 retail for this system; however, it does have a lot to offer. So, if you got the money, get it.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Normally I'm a mouse+KB PC gamer but most of my favorite titles were coming out earlier on consoles like Grand Theft Auto 4, Resident Evil 5. It took me a long time looking at the specs and capabilities before finally deciding on the PS3 and so far Ive not been disappointed.

Physically the PS3 has an elegant appearance and looks right at home with my hifi setup. I actually thought it looked a bit odd and "curvy" at first but I am starting to really dig the design and features eg. touch sensitive buttons, slot loading drive and cool blue and green leds. Plus it runs very quiet which is great for home theater. The controller is the familiar Playstation design and very lightweight, love the fact that its bluetooth and you can even charge it through the USB on your PC.

Moving on to the daily use of the system is where it starts to impress. Everything from the beep you get when you power on the system, to the GUI and menus feels like you are operating a powerful machine and not a toy. On the features side it plays practically everything eg. Blu-ray, upscaling DVDs, Divx and XviDs. Streaming 1080p mkv and flac files with PS3 Media Streamer is probably one of the coolest features. High bitrate playback stutters on wireless for me but is rock solid on a wired connection. Also look into an app called mkv2go if you prefer a more traditional method of transferring your media eg. usb flash drives and discs.

Of course the PS3 is a gaming machine and a damn good one at that! One of my favorite features are the free game demos, as well as 1080p Blu-ray trailers. A sort of try before you buy which has helped me decide which titles to get and saved me some money. Graphically these new generation of games are incredible and the game selection is very good so far. Here are few titles to me are must buy if you get a PS3.

Resident Evil 5
Grand Theft Auto IV
Street Fighter IV
Tomb Raider: Underworld
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
NBA 2K9
Top Spin 3

On a side note they also have Super Puzzle Fighter as a $10 download which was a huge plus for me.

From a PC gamers perspective, the mouse and keyboard is still king for FPS but I think the PS3 does everything else better (sports, platformers and sandbox games). A very nice addition to FPS gaming on a PC. You'd be surprised on how much more relaxed gaming with a controller is and fun you can have with a PS3!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I have been gaming since the orignal atari came out and have owned almost every console out since nes,64,ps1 and the ps2. I never owned the xbox since the ps2 was so good (my personal experience). I took the plunge and tried the 360 when it came out since the ps3 was being delayed. Well I recently purchased a ps3 and was unfortunetly disappointed that I ended up returning it. My first issue being that I was a early adopter of the HDTV movement since I have had my HDTV for about 6 years now. But the problem lies with the fact that back then hdmi was a pipe dream. Well up to this point every hdtv product I have purchased would output at 1080i over component except for the PS3. If I play a game that is 720p which is not compatible with my tv it down resolutions the picture quality to 480p which is what my ps2 already outputs. Now my 360 does the opposite it upconverts the 720p games to 1080i which is compatible with my tv. I loved the look of the ps3 unit its self and the fact that it plays bluerays but it again down rez's the picture to 480p because it's over component. This seems to get over looked in alot of reviews and since it is a big neagative for me there may be others that need to know this information as well. I hear people say, oh buy a new tv and I personally think it not a smart investment to replace a 64 inch tv that has a great picture, still better than most the new sets for a gaming console. I have to admit that I am more of a 360 lover at this point which is sad because I loved my ps2 so much. I have to admit that after using the 360 GUI agianst the PS3 GUI, I prefer the 360. I don't like that xbox live is not free like the Ps3 online but I don't do alot of online gaming anyway so I wait to find the xbox live 13 month cards for $29. Maybe someday sony will make this work better or my tv will die and I will have a good reason to replace it, I might try the ps3 again but right now for my situation it is not the best console and if u don't have a hdmi connection u may have the same issues. I think Sony rolled out the PS3 too soon, since they sold almost as many PS2 machines as they did PS3 machines in the first two years. That may be a large reason why the PS2 emulation was dropped. Not that it matters to me much. I'm sure it is important to some, but I have moved onto new games and have no interest in the older games. I don't have much use for memory cards either with a large hard drive. Overall it's a fine machine for me. It plays the games I want, plus has lost some of the bells and whistles that many of us don't use much (usb ports, emulation, memory card slots) in favor of something we do (more hard drive space!). Overall, awesome.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I have this console for a month.I love it so much. The best part of this console is that it can download game demos very easily. I have more than 20 game demos on my machine. It saves you a lot of costs to buy games that you may not really want. Even the demos give me a lot of fun. Another cool feature is Blu-ray DVD. I bought complete set planet earth BBC version and watch them on my 46' Samsung (LA46A550) using HDMI cable, the video quality is fantastic. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. We have a 60Gb and now the blu ray failed on us. I have read about it and starting thinking .. no.. it can not happened to me. We paid ~$500.00 and had it for 2 years. Well what do you know happened.. yep the blu ray failed to read DVD, CD, and games. So we called the Sony customer service and they directed us to Sony website. I surfed the net looking about this "blu ray not reading problem" and you know what.. This is a common problem and will cost ~$161.00 to fix the blu ray... So yes.. I got ripped off!! I love the graphics of the game and it was working great when it did work but I truly feel sorry for the people that had only a week and this started happening but fortunately if they keep their receipt they have a 1 year warranty. If you lost it or it is over a year, be prepared to pay an extra 161.00. I guess this is what happened when Sony rushes to get their product out. Now I see Sony has lowered the price but it will happen. this might be the only way for Sony to get their money back is start off with a disfunctional blu ray and get the consumer to buy this product and then charge an extra 161.00 to fix their problem that should have been fixed in the first place.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I've now had my PlayStation 3 for 6 months, which is long enough to add one more glowing review to the pile.

Simply put, it's been excellent. No problems, quiet as can be, and does everything I need it to. Well, almost. Just recently I decided that 80GB wasn't enough and picked up a 320GB drive for $74.99 shipped and installed it with no problems. Easy as can be, and now I've got space to burn.

As for the games, they keep getting better and better, with 2009's release schedule looking even better than last year's. Most of my favorite developers work exclusively with Sony, and while I wasn't on-board with the original PS3 costing $599, shaving $200 off made it a whole lot more enticing, and I have absolutely no regrets picking one up.

Very, very highly recommended for gamers and blu-ray fans alike.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

The Playstation 3. Where should I start? Well i'll start with it's amazing features! On this console, you can load songs on to it, and when you play the songs, a really cool background come's up while the song is playing, but it's usually the earth. You can browse the internet, but if you have a home computer I suggest using that instead, because the internet is slow on this console. The console feature's an internal memory card which is sweet! It offer's alot of memory too. This console isn't just something to play games on, but you can watch Blu-ray discs on it! Cool right? Now the graphics. They are phenominal!! They really look real, especially the Madden games! Try it. All the other game's graphics are cool too I just wanted to point that out. It delivers crisp sound and picture in High Definition. Get this. For those of you not willing to let your Ps2 games and gagets go, this console also play's PS2 games! If you want to include the memory card and the controller, you'll have to purchace adaptor's which should be less than 20 bucks. The desighn is sleek too as you can see. Overall This is a great video game console which I think Sony did a good job on. I can't wait to see the PS4 but thats about 2 years away. Lookin forward to it!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Where To Buy PlayStation 3 80GB

by Migo - 1 Comment

I bought myself a Playstation 3 about 6 months ago and have loved it. It is amazing in every way. I use it almost every day for games or media. Blu Ray disks are getting cheaper and I think soon will be the only way to get DvD movies as they are very very good. If you need this for media or games you wont be disappointed.

My friend has had a xbox 360 for 2 months and already has had a red ring of death and has to take it back to the shop. He has discovered its very noisy and it has crashed or frozen multiple times. He now wishes he got the PS3 instead.

For the games point of view, the ps3 has got some very good games out or comming out that are exclusive to the ps3. Little big planet, Metal gear 4 and killzone 2 are just some of them.

I cant say enough how good a console / media center it is and if u are wondering if you should spend the extra money to get it, you really wont be disappointed.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I want to marry my playstation 3 but my wife won't sign the divorce papers. I play for a couple of hours every day. My professional life is suffering beacuse I'm going in late so I can play in the morning. It's ok though because I leave early to make up for it. When I get home my baby boy is crying for me to play with him. I can't though because I have to play Warhawk, Far Cry 2, Unreal Tournament, Lego Indiana Jones, see if there are new updates on Playstation Store, and check my trophies. My marriage is not suffering though because my wife is the same way. But since she's a stay at home mom she can just play all day. The house is a mess, the dishes are dirty, the baby's diaper hasn't been changed in weeks.

Ok, so I'm obviously exagerating, but this a great product and I have never been happier about a game system (and blue-ray movie player) in my whole life.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

My title says it all. Its worth every penny. The games are too realistic you can also play on line. But theres only one draw back. When you get on line these guys are good you play against. A few you can beat easy. But if you play the Music games like Gutar Hero turn up the volume loud youll get just like those real rock stars you see on the stage at a concert.Im telling ya, Its to real to be true! I love it. If your connected to the Internet, there is always something to do on it. All you need is a Linksys (or other comparable wireless) N-router. Direct Ethernet wiring works great also. It comes with one controller which kind of sucks because I like multi-player games with the famdamily. If and when you buy a second controller it won't come with a power cord so be on the lookout for an extra connect cord for cheap sakes. This is best played on an HDTV. Though it will still play on a standard def TV...it's best quality is it's graphics. Use an HDMI, cheap as possible, cord to connect to your TV. Truly there really isn't all that noticeable of a difference. It's really all in the TV specs. If you don't believe me borrow your neighbors HDMI cable and compare your cheap cord to theirs. You'll find that you where the one that came out on top. Buy the 80GB model. Why...well really it's only for convenience. If you buy one that has a smaller one you'll always be deleting things. If you do decide to go with the smaller hard drive space models don't worry. Upgrading you hard drive later is easy. You can watch many, many, many easy to videos about you PlayStation 3 on [...]. Plus it doesn't void your warranty to do it yourself. Sony made it easy for the common person to upgrade their hard drive by themselves. All in all, HDTV;HDMI cable;Be on the lookout for a cheap power cord;Hard Drive is easy to upgrade and the games are getting more beautiful every year; This is the top of the line; The unit comes with a Blu-ray player built in; You can get your Netflix to transmit to it; Be connected to the Internet for a better experience; and finally...Play, laugh and live life to the fullest with photos you can add to your system. Bought this as a gift for the kids and they love it. It's amazing how good the picture quality is when using HDMI cables. I additionally upgraded the HD from 80gb to a Seagate 500gb. It's as easy as pulling the latch and turning the screws. The Blu-Ray player that's incorporate into the system is an added bonus. Best of all, there is no membership fees to play online, unlike the Xbox360.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Bought this primarily for games and blu-ray player. If you're not a Final Phantasy or Halo slave (XBOX exclusive) then it delivers great games as well.

However, it is NOT a web on TV replacement. The web browser does not support adobe flash player 10 which is required for Amazon on Demand or ABC web episode browser. Hulu works, but navigation is slow on most pages. Wouldn't want to surf the web on this guy.

One final note, the hard drive is formatted NTFS, so if you want to connect an external HD to download movies and pictures onto your PS3, format your HD accordingly or the PS3 will not be able to recognize the drive.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Best Quality

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 by Migo - Leave a comment

Okay here I go. So I know that everyone thinks the PS3 is way overpriced but here's the simple truth it's not. First off you get a Blu Ray disc player (no matter whether you have a HDTV) which makes you're video picture amazing, when i first got my PS3 my HDTV had yet to arrive so I was playing and watching on a ten year old TV and it still looked great! So the value of a high end Blu Ray (like the one in the PS3) is around $200+. Then factor in the game system which is the newest and most cutting edge and has a great amount of games it is worth $400-500. Also the games for the PS3 are amazing and the controllers are great. The only thing I regret is not being able the Halo series but it makes up for it with better sports games such as the MLB the Show series. In all for those of us who want the best in action, sports (unlike Xbox), online, and rpg definitely buy this system Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I've owned the PS3 when it first was released and just recently and i still can't get over some certain areas of where the system is lacking. Just a small review of pros and cons.

PROS
Its a Blu-Ray player which some people think is a great thing, myself i still think standard DVDs are just fine and don't see a whole lot of difference.

The interface is much smoother than 360, although for some its easy to get lost.

Most PS3 exclusives are very unique and different than whats on the 360, and i think in the future they will beat out xbox for major Sony only titles.

Much more of a multimedia device than the 360 could ever hope to be.

When downloading you can actually watch and keep track of how many megs per second or minute that your downloading, still no estimated time which would be nice.

The online gameplay being free is a plus, if you can find anyone who's playing.:(
CONS
HOME on PSN is ok but has done nothing to improve anything for the system.

The graphics engine is still not up to par, close but about 3 years behind by todays standards of GPU's(graphics processing unit). The processors push as much as they can to the GPU but no matter how many CPU's you have its only going to look as good as the GPU will let it. Don't get me wrong some games look great, but still don't perform all that well.

Still lacks a great online gameplay and content that you get on the 360.

Overall games still just don't look as impressive as on the 360, even exclusive titles, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, and Resistance 2 look great but still are lacking in a LOT of details and textures, in other words some games still look washed out and have bad frame rate issues.

Nearly all of the library of PS3 games have a max setting of 720p HDTV resolution which today is falling behind considering everything is coming out 1080i or 1080p for LCD and Plasma tv's. NOTE:Some games are capable of this native, but others are upscaled and it still doesnt make much of a difference in the picture quality. Xbox 360 has been capable of full 1080i and 1080p since its release in 2005. And all games are capable of it. Check the back of the boxs kids.

Some of the games on PS3 suffer from some severe lag especially in situations where there is to much on the screen, various updates and even being able to disable some features on the system have not helped this issue in the last few years.

So why the PS3 isnt a bad gaming console it just doesnt have the means yet to be worth buying, i hope for Sonys sake they take care of these issues and make it a system for the masses. Right now its an aquired taste and just doesnt appeal to as many people as it should. The 360 still holds the title for being the best gaming console out there even though PS3 is 10 times more reliable, but its more of a do it all device which some people prefer some don't. I myself had both systems at once and rarely played the PS3 when i did have it. When i traded mine in they said there were actually more coming back and some stores have overstock of them and they just weren't able to move them(sell), i hope this changes, because i think with the right touch it can become a great system until sony comes out with something better in the future.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Recently purchased an 80GB unit an was somewhat let down with the PS3. With a newer hardware design as compared to the Xbox 360, I was expecting the PS3 to blow the 360 out of the water in graphics detail. The best I could tell the PS3 was equivalent if not just slightly behind the 360 in the graphics department. The only advantage is the Blue-Ray player which is really nice. Until Sony can beef up their PSN and get software developers to publish games in numbers like the Xbox allready has, in my opinion the Xbox is still a better all around system. PlayStation 3 80GB Right now

by Migo - Leave a comment

With Blu-Ray officially winning the format war about a year ago, I think that it's safe to assume that the PS3 is here to stay. First off, the PS3 graphics are a huge improvement over the last generation gaming consoles, since PS3 outputs HD.

However, as an owner of both the Xbox 360 and a PS3, I can tell you that I am positive that the graphics are not better when the same game is being run. I did a side by side comparison with my friend's copy of Madden 09 for Xbox 360, and my copy of Madden 09 for PS3. If anyone tells you that the PS3 or the 360 has better graphics than the other, you should ignore them. With that cleared out of the way, I still think that the PS3 is better than the 360.

First off, the PS3 is also a Blu-Ray player. A decent Blu-Ray player costs at least $250. Blu-Ray is the new way... Watching movies like The Dark Knight is just a treat. With that said, I would also recommend you to try Netflix if you don't have it already, since you can rent Blu-Ray movies too. The price of Netflix's basic unlimited plan is about $10 a month, which is nothing since if you get 8 movies a month, it averages to $1.25 a movie.

Second, the gaming experience on a PS3 is just amazing. While the graphics are about the same as 360's with no noticeable difference, I seriously prefer the SONY's controller over the complicated Microsoft's Xbox 360 controller. The other truth that Xbox 360 fanboys aren't willing to admit is that there won't be any great Xbox 360 exclusives coming out in 2009. 2010 I don't know about, but in 2009, PS3 has Killzone 2, MLB the Show, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and more. So I'm positive that for 2009, the PS3 will have better games than the 360.

Third, claims that the 360 is overall cheaper than the PS3 aren't true. When buying a 360, you also need a wi-fi adapter that you'll have to throw out $100 and XBOX LIVE GOLD that's about $30-50 a year. (Get it at the right places it's $30. Also, keep in mind that I prefer XBOX LIVE over PSN) Though those aren't mandatory if you don't play online, you are missing out on a lot if you don't buy them. However, for the PS3, they are built in. Also, the built in Blu ray should also be taken into account.

By now, you should have made up your mind. However, SONY made a bad decision (at least I think it is) in taking out backwards compatibility. Still a great system, but better with the backwards compatibility. Still deserves the 5-star, since I still have my PS2. If my PS2 breaks, then I'm in trouble, since I still use my PS2 occasionally to play PS2 games.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Lowest Price PlayStation 3 80GB

First off let me just say I need friend requests, so here's my player id - JBResh. Just got my PS3 yesterday and can't keep my hands off the controller! There's so many features, it's impossible to use them all in one day. Even on my little old 13" tv the graphics are great. Anything negative said about this console is most likely false. My ps3 has been running for about 8 hours straight and is no more than warm to the touch. It's just the perfect console. Please spend the extra $100 and get this system, you won't regret it. It was an easy decision for me between 360 and ps3 for this huge reason. ps3 has wireless and bluetooth built-in. Xbox 360 does not, so if you need it wireless for online play and surfing the internet, like me, you have to buy a little gadget for $100, so now both consoles just became the same price.

When it comes to the games of each console, the 360 already came out with all its "big name" games (Halo 3, Gears of War 2, etc.), but Playstation 3 is just starting to get a wave of great "only for ps3" games (Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 10/09, God of War 3 4/10, etc.).

Comparing the sheer looks of both the xbox 360 and ps3, most people will prefer the ps3. The shine of black body looks really awesome, but the dull matte paint on the 360 looks like the 1980s NES. Plus the 360 has an outdated disc loader, has tray come out to insert the disc onto (even the wii doesn't have this, come on Microsoft), the ps3 has a slot to take and eject the disc, with touch sensitive eject and power buttons.

Finally, there's reliability. Everyone has that friend that always let's you down. For some that friend is the xbox 360. Those "red rings of death" will eventually show up for all 360 owners, since the 360 has a 33% failure rate (absolutely unacceptable). The ps3 only has a 1% failure rate. I know people who are on their 4th and 5th 360, and I know people who still have their first ps3. I've heard from some friends that they "wrap a towel around their 360" to fix the red rings of death. That certainly sounds aesthetically pleasing to the eye (I typed sarcastically).

Basically, the Playstation 3 is just an all-around powerhouse of a console with enough feature to write a novel about. The price will catch up to the 360 owners quickly, so don't get sticker shock. it's okay if you go with the 360, I won't hate you, but definitely consider EVERYTHING about both consoles and do research to make your best decision. Have fun gaming!!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Like most other reviewers I strongly endorse the Playstation 3. I received it as a Christmas gift and have been enjoying it ever since. I particularly enjoy the wifi capability and the fact that it is a blu-ray player. Save PlayStation 3 80GB

After weighing both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, I purchased the 80Gb PS3.
Word of advice: There are a LOT of people out there lauding why one particular console is the greatest, and denigrating another system. For anyone also weighing a decision between consoles, decide which fits your needs best -- the features you want, the games you would enjoy, etc. There is no "one true console" -- just depends on what you want out of it. As long as you do your research, and stick to the console that fits your needs, you'll be happy.

The PS3 is a pretty great system. I won't recap all the features, but I will say that the system runs very quiet, looks wonderful, and feels comfortable. As a gaming system, the game selection has improved in the past two years. As an entertainment system, I have been using the PS3 in conjunction with the PlayOn media server software (purchased separately) to stream internet video content (films, tv) from sites such as Netflix, Hulu, CNN.com, etc., to my living television It all looks great.

To sum it up, the PS3 is a classy game console system with lots of multimedia features that fit my needs, and I'm very pleased with it.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I have now had my unit for four months. I use the machine about once a week to watch a movie (all the games suck or are better on xbox). Last night the machine gave me a red light and will no longer work. In looking on line these machines are breaking between 4 to 16 months. I called sony and they are only worried about your proof of purchase because they are only covering units under a year old. I was told my blu ray player was fried and this is a know problem. Average repair time 30 days!!!!!!!!!!! The warranty is also not extended after the repair so I am sure my unit will be worthless in the next 12 months. This will be the last product I buy from Sony. I also am no longer buying any games for the ps3 as I don't want to be stuck with games I cannot play when this unit breaks again out of warranty. Go with the xbox 360 and a stand alone blue ray player. This ps3 was a waste of my money. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Cheapest PlayStation 3 80GB

I have had my PS3 form almost a year already, and until now decided to write a review. This is my first and only playstation, and I am amazed by the capabilities it has. When I bought it, I did mostly for the Blu Ray feauture, since stand alone blu ray players cost as much at that time. I have enjoyed every single day having my PS3.

This console can do everything!! It plays games with outstanding PQ and audio, blu ray movies is the same, great PQ and audio. Besides that, with the free upgrades from Sony, I can watch Hulu, listen to Pandora or last.fm, and even read the newspaper if I want to on my big screen. Something great also is that I can stream all my media files to the playstation, so whenever we have family and friends we can show them pictures and videos stored in our computer in our TV without needing to pout them on a USB drive or burn them into a disc.

The PS3 is one of the best purchases my wife and I did last year. If you are thinking in buying a PS3, I can tell you, you won't regret it!! Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Cheap PlayStation 3 80GB

This was purchased mainly for use as a BluRay player. With its built-in wired or wireless connectivity, software upgrading to the latest firmware is automatic (if selected under the countless menus) and flawless. It has NEVER failed to play ANY DVD or BDVD PERFECTLY - including many new releases which have not played properly on other (dedicated) BluRay players.

I also use it to play various video files (both SD and HD) from my computer via Ethernet. Video is great on my 52" Sony 1080p 120 Hz LCD TV, as is sound through my Harman Kardon / Bose audio setup

My PS3 originally had a 40GB hard drive (replaced by 250GB) and came with a "free" BD remote control.

I prefer to use a controller rather than the remote (which has 46 small buttons) when I am watching a DVD. The on-screen options are extensive - and a person who is "Technology Challenged" will face a bit of a learning curve (as they will with the PS3's numerous menu options) when using either their remote or the controller. My advice is to by-pass the remote - I am very glad I did not pay extra for it.

By-the-way, the PS3 is a excellent gaming machine. Though mine gets comparatively little use playing games, I am glad I have that option, and it is fun when the kids are here.

It has performed totally reliably through 18 months of extensive use.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Bluray player stopped working after 3 months of light use. I started the warranty claim 4 weeks ago and I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Sony and they still cannot tell me when the PS3 will be returned to me. I regret buying a Sony product. Purchase PlayStation 3 80GB

Wednesday, October 7, 2009 by Migo - Leave a comment

Its the most expensive console on the market because it offers the most. Wi Fi, free online, blu ray, all included. Xbox makes you buy everything seperate. Wii is cool for the first 6 months, but after you play the 15 good games it has you start wanting something more then last gen shovelwear with waggle controls. Playstation 3 has a ton great games coming out in 2009 a lot of them exclusives. Infamous, Uncharted 2, God of War 3, and dont forget Killzone 2. Only the best looking most fun FPS so far this generation.

What I`m saying is dont cheap out and buy the competition. Pony up the extra cash and get something that will keep your interest for 10 years, not a few months.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.
