The reason I'm disappointed by Sony, they made two different PS3 80s, only thought there was one, and wanted to be able to play PS2 games. this one doesn't play PS2 games, it plays PS1 and PS3 games only. Other than that the PS3 is great.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Well all I can say is where else can you get a blue ray player, gaming system and internet browser all in one for a price just a little more than a stand alone blue ray player. Very good machine and look forward to lots of RPG games in the future to play on this machine along with all the new movies in 1080pGet more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Where To Buy PlayStation 3 80GB

Friday, January 29, 2010 by Migo - Leave a comment

Alright, I'm not a huge gamer so I got the PS3 mainly because of its blu-ray drive. Of course, the fact that it was a gaming console made it all the more worthwhile. Bluray has been fantastic and I can't go back to DVDs now because of the "low" quality. The PS3 is a great movie player, it's playback quality is smooth and I don't have any complaints at all.

While playing bluray movies it is easy to navigate through all the menus and I've experienced no hiccups or slowdowns. I might recommend getting the sony bluray remote if you don't want to use the game controller, it's not the most intuitive for movie playback.

People have said PS3's are noisy but even during the quietest movie scenes I could hardly hear the unit.

Another bonus is its ability to connect to your computer on the network and play movies. When I'm lazy it's nice to not have to go upstairs to get the laptop and instead just access the laptop through the PS3. There's additional software you have to buy but I think it's worth it.

Hooked up via HDMI -> DVI connection with no problems. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I must say, I opened my Ps3 and was tickled with giddy!! I dont want to give the wrong impression, so to recap I have been a gamer since Ps1 (this is not to say I didnt play nintendo) when I was a child; but I feel you dont truly become a real gamer until you have grown up, had a family and, still continue to play game consoles on a frequent basis.
That said I have owned Ps1,Ps2,Xbox,Xbox 360 and now the Ps3. Most of us have had systems up to this point the Xbox 360 and the Ps3.

It is at this point when many must choose because price and quality are all in question. As I stated I have owned 2 Xbox360,s. Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed playing the 360 very much and sold my first one simply because I got bored with it, note it worked perfectly for over a year. But boredom from not playing my games prompted me to by another one and I again had a good time, but shortly after the the year service agreement ran out (2 and a half months to be exact) I got the RROD. I am disgusted to say the least.

However there has been light at the end of the tunnel, that light was the Ps3. I am impressed with its design, the look, the feel, THE QUIET operation of the system. It is trully elegant. I have not felt a sense of caraftsmanship since the Ps2 and this goes above and beyond. Metal Gear dont even get me started, simply put jaw dropping. I am disappointed I didnt just buy the Ps3 in the first place then, I could have backward compatability but I'll live without it!!

To sum this review up, If you are wondering which system to buy my choice is PS3 hands down, there is no contest in which system is the best. If you are like me you have all read the specs and such of each of the systems, we all know which one offers what, and it is safe to say the Xbox 360 is a flawed design and is in fact holding back the capabilities of the PS3. Its like a quality colonge or a cheap imitation, do you want to smell good or like a cheap copy of something. I hope this review can shed some light on those of you with RROD from xbox 360 and those of you still deciding, good luck and happy gaming.

PlayStation 3 80GB

The 80 GB is a great machine. Losing backwards compatibility is a disappointment, but the quietness and dramatic decrease in power consumption are huge additions. Comparing the 60GB to the 80, the new machine is a bit smaller and is cooler (temperature wise). I have been playing the Little Big Planet Beta and this is for sure a hit game, hopefully the release of this highly anticipated title will increase the sales of the PS3. Having owned the PS3 and 360, I will say that the free online multiplayer and built in wifi and bluray make this a no brainer.

Let me do a quick comparison. To equal the PS3, the 360 will need the following: wifi connector ($80), battery charging components (I believe $10) the 360 remotes come from the factory requiring two AA batteries, while the ps3 has rechargeable ones, blu-ray drive (dream on), year of xbox live ($60)

cost of 360 pro: $300
total cost of 360 pro to equal 80 gb PS3: about $450 (without blu-ray drive and lacking 20GB in storage)

Not to mention Sony's impeccable record of reliability with the Playstation 3 console.

I am sticking with Sony, a decision I will not regret, especially on 10/21/2008: release of Little Big Planet.

For anyone on the fence, it's time to hop off.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Review

by Migo - Leave a comment

I was debating which game console to get, the Wii, Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3(PS3). As a male with family of two kids, overall the PS3 was the best value for the money. Since PS3 and Xbox 360 are aiming for the same market, I was comparing the PS3 more to the 360:

Pros:
-Most powerful system among 3 consoles.
-Blu Ray player included, also it can be upgraded via the internet. It is full functioning Blu Ray player, not watered down, the picture quality if awesome.
-Solid hardware, Xbox 360 hardware has many problems.
-Includes wireless Wi-Fi, but with Xbox 360 you have to buy it separately.
-Free online gaming, unlike Xbox's which you have to pay each month.
-Internet web browser, which Xbox doesn't have.
-Better menus for navigation than 360.
-Controllers have not only rumble, but also motion sensor like Wii.
-Hard drive is easily upgradable and inexpensive, unlike 360 which is expensive and very hard to upgrade if you want to put your own hard drive.
-Latest movies and TV shows can purchased online, 360's Netflix has more titles but are old titles.
-Playstation Eye(motion sensing camera) accessory allows for motion games like Wii.

Cons:
-Need more latest titles of movies(but same or better than 360 or Apple TV)
-Not all movies can be rented in the first few weeks of release, but have to be purchased.
-Need more variety of games, actually true for all 3 systems.

Overall compared to Wii: Kids will want the Wii no matter what anyone says as long as their friends have it. The quality of Wii games are decreasing, game developers are not integrating the motion functionality well with the games. It feels like developers made the games and then added the motion feature as an afterthought. PS3's included controller has motion sensors like the Wii, also Playstation Eye camera has motion sensoring also. There are PS3 accessories for Guitar Hero and Rock Band which allows physical games on the PS3 like the Wii. So you can do play physical games like the Wii on the PS3.

Overall compared to Xbox 360: Even though Xbox 360 is less expensive initially, if you add everything that PS3 has, the Xbox 360 is much more expensive. People forgot this. 360 has more games than PS3 because it was introduced a year earlier, but starting in 2008 PS3 is coming out with many high quality exclusive games now that introduction period is over(PS3 has Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Socom Confrontation, Resistance 2, Gran Turismo 4, etc). Unless you will play Halo or Gears of War, get the PS3, it is a much better value. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Top Quality

Well I did not buy this machine to play video games on it, ORIGINALLY, but for the use of the blu ray player, since i would trust it to be the one of the best ones, and the cheapest one for the quality i could get, and that did not disappoint, blu ray does live up to all the hype, making old movies look super crisp on my hd tv, and blu ray movies look amazing!

But i think I also wanted the videogame system as much as i would like to lie about it, i purchased metal gear solid 4 for it, and it is one of the most amazing looking games i have seen.

I still play very little and use the ps3 mostly to watch movies , but it serves both purposes extremely well Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Only used as a Blu-ray player with the Blu-ray disc remote. As a stand alone Blu-ray player this thing rocks and excels at playing movies, downloading movies, sound formats, picture in picture (PIP), and by even allowing browsing of the internet. It does a great job at upgrading regular movies too! Hide the cables and use the optional remote to make it blend in with other high end components. I personally have a Denon receiver with 7.1, Paradigm speakers, a 46'' 1080P Panasonic plasma, HD DVR recorder and the PS3; an Awesome setup! The PS3 does not take away from this set up, to the contrary, it compliments and completes my set up by providing the fastest load times, DTS Master and True Dolby HD sound. Trust me, for the money there is nothing better, unless you are willing to spend over $2,000 for a Denon Blu-ray player, and yet, it still does not offer internet browsing, personalizing its menus, connectivity, an 80 Gig hard drive to store movies, music, pictures shows, and also the ability to play games when you are bored (If EVER!). A great product that even its maker (Sony) is having trouble duplicating and offering with similar options on their dedicated blu-ray player lineup. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

It may seem like a hefty purchase at first, but it's features are balanced out well, as far as gaming and blu ray movies are concerned. For the most part, the blu ray movies look fantastic on HD screens. The game choices are somewhat slim, but there's enough to keep you happy for a little while. It does NOT play PS2 games, DESPITE what the AMAZON.com summary may tell you.

***NOTE***
Notice how I gave the game overall rating only 3 stars? It's because for such a highly technical device, it has a low tolerance for error.
Ex: After playing a game, I turned the game off and flipped the switch in the back to power the console completely off. Since I wasn't used to "safe or best practices" regarding the handling of PS3's - (I had only owned the console for 3 days at the time) - I didn't notice the notification on the screen that read: "Performing HDD Update, do not turn off device." I wasn't looking at the screen, when it displayed the notification, so when I turned it off I wasn't aware of the HUGE mistake that turned out to be.
The next morning I tried to watch a movie on the PS3 and I received the following error message:
"The file subsystem is corrupt and will need to be restored"
Hit OK.
I must have gone through that error 12 times and it did not fix the problem. I had to mail the PS3 to a Sony Department and get it fixed, which they did at no cost to me.

So be careful and extra attentive at any notification the PS3 displays.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Ok, let's say it... Wii rocks as per its nice and innovative concept. But when it's about graphics you have to look at the two other consoles and I specially look at the PS3 for its all in one concepto: Web surfer, Wifi powered, BLU-ray drive, HD graphics.

Now that it has come with an 80Gbytes hard disk and a dualshock controller for the same price of its older 40Gbytes version, I bought it and I'm enjoying it.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

If you're reading this review, you've probably read plenty of others so I'll just cut to the chase. The major reason I waited so long to get the PS3, as opposed to getting the 360 and Wii shortly after their launch, was due to the lack of first party software support. Basically the PS3 was getting all the same games as the 360 but not nearly as many exclusive titles.

Recently though there's been an increase in quality software. Check out Little Big Planet and Folklore to name a couple. Most of the Xbox exclusives are making there way to the PS3 as well. Not only that, but I too have been burned by the red ring. My faith in the reliability of the 360 has faltered. Finally, with the upcoming addition of Home and various firmware updates, the appeal of the social networking/online play of the PS3 has greatly increased to the point of being competitive with Live.

The issue I have is Sony's "Consumer Confusion" strategy. There are 6 different consoles out there that all have varying capabilities and have only been available for certain amounts of time. Let's break them down:

The original 80gig: 4 USB ports and software based PS2 emulation, No DualShock 3, WiFi. (No longer in production.)

The MGS4 80gig edition: Comes with the original 80gig and MGS4 game. (No longer in production.)

The MGS4 Limited Edition 40gig:4 USB ports, NO PS2 emulation, WiFi, No DualShock 3. (No longer in production.)

The new 80gig: 2 USB ports, NO PS2 emulation, DualShock 3, WiFi (Currently in Production.)

60gig console: 4 USB ports, PS2 hardware-based emulation, WiFi, No DualShock 3. (No longer in production.)

20gig console: 4 USB ports, PS2 hardware-based emulation, No WiFi, No DualShock 3. (No longer in production.)

40gig console: 4 USB ports, NO PS2 emulation, WiFi, No DualShock 3. (No longer in production.)

160gig console: 2 USB ports, No PS2 emulation, WiFi, DualShock 3. (In Production.)

So consumers have no idea what they're buying without doing a decent amount of research, especially if they're taking refurbished ones on Ebay into consideration. Furthermore, consumers have to make the decision to buy one now, or what to see what they'll release in 3 months. Make up your mind Sony.

I ordered the new 80gig thinking it was the same 80gig as the MGS4 pack that was on the shelves only a few months ago. I figured they just weren't including the game anymore. To my surprise, it has 2 less USB ports than I thought and no PS2 compatibility. This is irritating because I have PS2 games that I enjoy playing from time to time, but my PS2 barely works anymore. (I was one of the unfortunate that bought one on launch day.) I really can't justify buying a new PS2. I can only hope that they release some software emulation in a future firmware update.

All in all, it's a good system that's starting to get its act together. I would have given it five stars but the lack of backwards compatibility irks me. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Decide Now

I am an owner of a Wii, one XBOX 360, one XBOX 360 Elite and now the PS3. As a machine the PS3 is a very capable machine. I play it on a Panasonic 50" Plasma and it's also connected to an Onkyo 7.1 with Polk Speakers.

The PS3 graphics & sound are on par with the 360 and much better than the Wii. My console never heats up and I have left it on for over 40 hours and it is super quiet. I don't even hear it. On the other hand the 360 heats up and it is LOUD! I play games a lot at least 3 hours a day and on weekends even more. If I were to play the PS3 then the 360 it will take me a while to get use to how loud the 360 is.

As a console the PS3 is nearly perfect, but it has it's drawbacks. I find the operating system of the 360 to be more user friendly than the PS3 or the Wii. I would have preferred that the remote would have batteries like the 360, so I wouldn't be limited to the USB charging cord. I did solve this problem by buying another controller and a charger, thus my controllers would always be charged. The other problem is the lack of good games. The 360 seems to have all the good games(there is a reason I have 2 360). After having the PS3 I only have Metal Gear Solid 4 and I couldn't really find any good games worth buying. Actually, I bought the PS3 just for that game. While on the 360 I have already pre-ordered Gears of War 2, Fable 2 & End of War which happens to be exclusibly for the XBOX. While the Square Enix(Final Fantasy RPG Series) will be going to XBOX now.

The Wii is a nice system to play as a family, but it's not for the hardcore gamer. It is something that I play once in a while when I have friends over, but I can't play those games for more than 2 hours, but on the other 2 consoles I can play forever. The Wii doesn't have a hardrive neither(it has 512MB of memory). It may be cheaper, but to take advantadge of it you need to get 4 controllers including the one that comes with it. That cost me an extra $180, so it is not really that cheap. The pointer on the Wii is not accurate at all which a find very annoying.

The PS3 is a very good and capable console that may last a while without any problems. I never had a crash and it is VERY QUIET, but it lacks good games. It has very good graphics as long as your TV is able to produce them and it has great sound as long as they are connected to a decent system. I sometimes feel that the sound is a little better than the 360. It has a 80GB HD for memory.

The 360 is loud and heats up and they tend to break more often. I had to send one of my 360 for repairs after 1 year of extensive use, but it makes up with a very large selection of games that are fun to play. It has either a 20GB, 60GB or 120GB HD for memory. I have the 20GB & the 120GB one.

As a console I give the PS3 5 stars, but if I were rating the selection of games I would only give it 2.5 stars. If I could only choose a console, I would choose the 360 because it has more game selection.

PlayStation 3 80GB Right now

Saturday, January 23, 2010 by Migo - Leave a comment

The "Great Configuration, Great Console" review (Brad Schmidt) sold me on this console. (Thanks Brad)

PS2 compatibility was not an issue for me - I don't have a PS2, and can't see myself buying PS2 games (even though they can be a lot cheaper). I didn't buy a PS3 to play lower-res PS2 games.

I don't see the fewer USB ports as an issue - I only rarely use one to charge my controller.

I was actually amused by Brad's comments about how this PS3 runs cooler and thus quieter than previous PS3s. I actually think this PS3 is fairly loud - so I guess I'd be hating a different PS3!

The Blu-Ray capabilities is one of the features that sold me, considering how expensive a stand-alone BR player costs.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

This is for the international customers !
i bought this unit, its model number is cechk01 , dated: August 2008.
i took it overseas (out of the US). the voltage in my country is 220v.

a lot of posts in the forms state that the PS3 has a universal power supply that supports both 110 and 220 - while on the label on the unit, it will only state 110v.

so i watched some youtube movies, and figured out how to open the unit (note: you LOSE your warrenty if you open the unit !!!)
i opened it up, and released the power supply. on it's bottom it clearly states:
Model EADP-260AB
AC Input:
100-240V ~
3.3-1.4A 50/60HZ

DC Output
+12v --- 21.5A
+5v --- 0.6 A

i closed the unit, replaced the cable, with a similar cable just with the proper end socket (this was a cable used for and old pc).
plugged it into the socket (220v) and powered it up. works like a charm.

i am no 14 kid. so this is my review.

You really can't ever hope for perfection, no matter how many polygons these things can pump out, it takes a lot more work to turn those pixels into something fun. This is something most of the "next-gen" consoles aren't always living up to.

That being said, I think the PS3 is the best piece of home electronics money can buy. You get a great HD gaming console. A reasonably affordable Blu-Ray player that will last as long as the firmware updates say it can. You get a free online experience and decent downloadable content store. You also get a console that handles your .avi and divx movies. I used to have a hacked Xbox and there is no need for hacking here. Sony has left a nice open platform for people looking to store home media. The price isn't a heartache like the first ones, which is why I finally upped and got one. So how do you review this thing?

After all the price cuts, revisions and updates, the PS3 in many ways is finally getting to be the machine as Sony always intended to be. A wonderful core piece of home electronics. Because of the gaming, connectivity and Blu-Ray inclusion, the PS3 is, in many ways, beyond its Xbox and Nintendo competitors.

That isn't to say it is perfect. The Wii for my money is a lot more fun and has more enjoyable games than either the PS3 or the 360. But the Wii is also very limited. The Xbox has a much broader library of games, and I think the controller is more comfortable the old Dual Shock design for the PS3. But neither the Xbox or the Wii has a Blu-Ray drive.

Online experience is pretty good with the Playstation Store. There are more options for purchase than the Wii has, though lacking the endless Nintendo store catalogue of titles. I also am pleased there is no subscription model. Because of Xbox Live, Microsoft will not get my money. I don't see why I should pay every month to use something I already paid hundreds of dollars for. Kudos to Sony for staying free.

Despite its media strengths, the main problem with the PS3 is with games, mainly the lack thereof. But similarly, the Xbox 360 suffers from this too. Perhaps because neither the PS2 or the original Xbox were really ready to give up the ghost when their successors came out.

I think the PS3, and even the Xbox 360 are inundated by endless FPS and "Stealth" style shooting gallery games. I'm kind of over GTA, its just not very interesting, and frankly overrated. Gears of War, UT 3, Halo 3, all of these games are good but not really that new, they are not very lasting and simply aren't as fun as the marketing leads us to believe. These consoles lack games that aren't just "cool" like Gears of War or Metal Gear Solid 4. They don't have games that are just plain fun like Super Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros. or the great refreshed Resident Evil 4 on the Wii.

All of this considered. I think the PS3 is a great addition to my living room. The games I have bought, I love. The Blu-Ray and media features are second to none in the category. I think the PS3 is still a console that will be around and useful for some time to come. I just wish there more innovative games out there to add to its luster. HD is cool for about ten minutes, and sure it's brilliant, but where is the fun?Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

The playstation 3 is a remarkable next-gen console. Things that I enjoy about the PS3 is the capability of the system, the blu-ray player, and the controller.
The system has many features that resemeble the XBOX 360 like the media player. One thing that makes the PS3 far better than the 360 is the built in wi-fi.
Another great thing about the PS3 is the built in blu-ray player. It compares to high end stand alone blu-ray players at a more reasonable price.
The third thing that makes the playstation worth the money is the controller. Unlike the 360 remote, the ps3 remote is light and the buttons hit with smoothness and ease.
A few disappointments I found were in the backwards compatibility of a few models such as the 40gb version. Another thing that I would like to note is that the wi-fi is not as quick as the 360.
With that said I would recommend the ps3 to anybody looking to get into the next gen consoles or for someone looking for a standalone blu-ray player.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Cheap PlayStation 3 80GB

Wednesday, January 20, 2010 by Migo - Leave a comment

Ok, I got the PS3 cause the price is reasonable in this last generation.
To achieve this sony obviously did some downgrades. This console has only 2 usb points instead of 4 and lacks the card reader (CF, MS, SD). However it is packed with an 80GB drive which is a good thing! I believe previous models had the capability to run ps2 games I'm not sure about this but this one wont do that. Obviously cause sony still has the ps2 on the market.

This is a solid machine a bit bulky but it has it all. For noobs:

Internet Browser / store / networking.
High definition connections (component, hdmi, optical)
Blue ray player.
Internet LAN / WIFI
Bluetooth
FREE online gaming.

The PS3 is the highest quality graphics and performance console out there, if you demand this on your gaming look no further but be aware if you still have your old tv that it won`t make a difference unless you are using an HD TV.

The console is sleek, stylish and elegant, great design but as I said before a but bulky. Looks like a waffle maker.

The package comes complete but wont get my five stars for two reasons:

1.- Come on don`t be cheap throw in an HDMI cable!

2.- What happened to the good old days when you received two controls with your console?

Another thing I don`t like is that you have to download game updates and patches. I think games should be released once they have final versions and after appropriate testing before hitting the market. Downloading upgrades for the OS is another thing tho.

Buying PlayStation 3 80GB

by Migo - Leave a comment

I've been a tad perplexed that some people find the Sony PS3 a bit of a disappointment. As a gaming platform I'm not blown away simply because there are so very, very few games made for the PS3 that I'm even the slightest bit tempted to play. Next week Fallout 3 comes out (I was a huge, huge fan of the original Fallout and its sequel on PC), which doubles the number of games that I am interested in playing on a PS3. I am almost exclusively interested in RPGs, and so far PCs (with an Internet connection) remains the platform of choice. Even the one game I have been playing on the PS3 I originally played on PC, Oblivion. I would rather scrub a floor than play a 3D shooter or a sports sim, so if it had been only a gaming platform, a PS3 would have been a pretty tawdry purchase.

Luckily there is a great deal more to the PS3 than its capacity to run games. From the menu I can see that there is a great deal more than I have not yet discovered. For instance, I'm not quite certain why it has built in wi-fi. Maybe one day I'll find out; more likely I won't. But there are several uses to which I've put my PS3 that has made it well worth the purchase price.

My main reason for getting a PS3 was to play Blu-ray discs. Like a huge number of people, I held off going high def until the format wars were resolved. Once Blu-ray won, however, it was time for me to get off the sideline. I waited until I moved in August to get my first high def television and in September I got my PS3. There was no great rush because I had no Blu-ray discs. But I ordered the PS3, Seasons One of both TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES and PUSHING DAISIES, IRON MAN, and the PS3 version of Oblivion all at the same time. I got TSCC and the PS3 on the same day. I came home, set up the Sony, popped in a disc, figured out how to use the remote (with some trouble -- the PS3 remote is not very intuitive for someone who has never played a console game), and was instantly happy that I had a Blu-ray player. The picture was if anything better than what I was expecting, and I was expecting a lot. I still don't have many Blu-rays, but with movies like WALL-E and THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS coming out soon, and switching from DVD to Blu-ray on some of the shows I watch (LOST will now be purchased on Blu-ray), my small collection will grow.

My rationale for getting a PS3 rather than a unit that could only play Blu-ray discs was that the $80 difference in price would be justified by being able to play games, even if I never found anything to play other than Oblivion, would be a safe gamble. Especially with Fallout 3 coming out, I think I would that gamble. I have really enjoyed playing on a large screen. At first I had a lot of trouble adjusting to the controls after years of playing on a computer and using a keyboard, but I've really come to enjoy it. My only caveat is that sometimes I get slightly nauseous because of the movement on the larger screen. I've talked to a few other people and they've had similar problems. It isn't anything that I can't cope with, but it does cut into how much I enjoy playing.

There are two other uses I've been able to put the PS3 to use that make me even happier with it. First, like with my Philips Up-Conversion DVD player, the PS3 will play my older DVDs at a near 1080 resolution. Actually, some DVDs look absolutely as good as Blu-ray discs do. Battlestar Galactica, for instance, looks spectacular on my PS3. Sadly, Buffy, my other all time favorite show, doesn't look very good at all. I'm hoping that there will be a release of Buffy at some point on Blu-ray with a much higher resolution (though this should NOT be letterboxed -- though it was filmed with a wider angle camera so that you can actually show wider shots than what you got on TV, the shots were planned for 4:3 perspective, so that it is the more canonical frame). There is talk of bringing BSG out on Blu-ray, but I'm so happy with the resolution of my current discs, I'm not 100% sure I'll upgrade. I'll probably buy Season One on Blu-ray just to see.

The second thing I enjoy is the ability to play DIVX encoded .avi files using a flash drive. I can do this on my Philips Up-Conversion player as well, but with a major difference. The Philips gives a highly cropped menu. The PS3 gives a very large amount of info about each file. In other words, while neither really beats the other in terms of quality in playing the .avi files, the Sony makes it much easier to figure out what file you want to play.

So all in all I've been very happy with my PS3. Yes, I wish there were more games that interested me on this platform. But since I primarily got this for use as a Blu-ray player, any gameplay is just a nice bonus. If someone knows for dead certain that they would never play a game on it, they should probably consider getting a Blu-ray player only unit. But I enjoy the versatility of the PS3.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Buy PlayStation 3 80GB

I purchased this PS3 mainly for the Blu Ray feature, since Blu Ray players are so expensive I thought why not pay a little more and get a gaming system. I own an XBOX 360 which is my preferred gaming platform. The XBOX 360 awards you with achievement points and a gamer score so you can tell how many different games, what games, and what achievements were earned in each individual game, example, Rock Band may have a max of 1000 gamer points and I have unlocked 385 achievements points because it's a hard game, you take all the games you have played and add up each achievement score and you get your gamer score total, mine is 12000 points, the PS3 doesn't have this kind of scoring system, you only play the games for the fun of gaming which isn't to say there is anything wrong with that but I prefer a gamer score, it makes me feel like I am accomplishing something. I understand that PS3 is adding trophies which is like achievement points except you don't get a score you only get a bronze, silver, or gold trophy awarded depending on the difficulty level played I think, anyone who has played PS3 games would know more about this than me, as far as the Blu Ray goes, it is awesome, looks and sounds the best, I can see why it won the HDDVD war. The PS3 also has an internet browser built in so you can surf the internet, pretty cool feature. It also has a built in wireless modem so you don't have to buy a wireless modem connection for the PS3 (you have to buy one for the XBOX 360), it's already there along with bluetooth to use any bluetooth for chat purposes. Just so you know why I mentioned the XBOX 360 in a PS3 review, it's because I wanted you to know what you are getting in a PS3 versus an XBOX 360 if you are looking only for gaming, if you are looking for Blu Ray, this is what you want.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Purchase PlayStation 3 80GB

This is not a review about the PS3 as a console, or as just a Blu-Ray player. Rather, let's look at the premise of it as a multimedia AND web machine.

Brilliant Blu-Ray player. Fast boots, not a single disk it has refused to play to date, great picture. Good DVD player, except that I don't think I'll try hacking off its region code protection ;-) I guess it's good at upsampling, but I've never cared much for upsampling myself.

Do get the remote, watching movies with a console controller is a pain. Slight misgivings about the remote - the Stop button is badly located (between Play and Pause???) and bookmarking was much easier on my 3 yr old LG player.

Still, 5/5, easy, for movies. The price is very competitive with standalone BluRay players and firmware upgrades make it much more evolutionary in nature.

Now, for the rest... The PS3 is supposed to a great multimedia player, almost a computer. My original idea was to use as a Blu Ray, but also to surf the net, listen to Radio Paradise, and store MP3s on it.

Web surfing is seriously broken on it. Every single Flash triggers a nagware prompt asking you whether you want to run the plugin. Worse, the browser systematically throws "out of memory" errors on medium complexity websites like YouTube or Delicious. Apparently, the PS3 currently allocates very little memory to the browser. Once you have that memory error, you have to close and restart the browser (not the PS3 itself, luckily).

Not sure how bookmarks work - not very user friendly. I mostly navigate using the History.

Radio Paradise? Heck no, the PS3 won't accept any of their multiple available formats. Same with LastFm and Pandora, though I haven't tried them myself.

Flash support? Some content plays, but not all.

Browser rating: 1/5. My iPhone is more capable, not least on text entry, and that's why I use my iPhone to look at YouTube on my TV or stream Radio Paradise, rather than my PS3. I've given up doing anything more than cursory reading of the no-graphics version of the BBC News on the PS3. Look around the browser reviews carefully if you plan to do any surfing on this thing.

MP3s? Good enough, but not great. The process of importing MP3s locally (energy conscious => I didn't want to stream) is counter-intuitive and, once loaded, the interface is years behind iTunes or an iPod. 3/5, somewhat saved by the Planet Earth music visualizer program which is the best visualizer I've ever seen.

Videos? capable enough on DIVX and other codecs.

Most of these flaws could be fixed, if Sony decided to work on the browser and music capability and provided a firmware update. Up to us to voice our concerns. When those issues are fixed, I'll gladly delete this review and replace it with a more positive one. BTW, the firmware update system is pretty smooth, taking about 5-10 minutes max on a broadband + wifi link.

I have Fallout 3 and the PS3 is a good home for it. Still, other people know way more about consoles so look at their reviews instead.

Overall, 3.5/5, but not quite 4/5. Very good choice for a Blu-Ray though and still one I would highly recommend, you get a good console for free. Just... don't believe the web browser & media hype. Also it seems to run fairly hot, so it is guzzling electricity (140W for my model to view DVDs).

Jan 09 update: with firmware 2.53, the browser displays webpages on most of my 1080p width, with reasonable font sizes. Before, the pages were centered, using only about 50% of available screen width and really small fonts. MUCH better for text + image websites. A welcome step, but the rest of the web browsing issues remain.

July 09/firmware 2.80. Browser has improved, it can show Delicious now. However, it still hangs occasionally, sometimes to the point that I need to restart the PS3. Now that I use it somewhat more, I realize a big part of the browser's handicap comes from the virtual keyboard's extreme data entry slowness. This is why Delicious is a big help (you can set bookmark on your computer). Oh, and though Radio Paradise claims to have a PS3 compatible stream, it still doesn't work. Got this for over a month now and i've been enjoying the PS3 a lot. I bought it mainly as a bluray player to go along with my 52" Samsung 550.
I can say i really enjoy true HD experience. Not only does the PS3 do 1080p video but also true HD audio partnered ofcourse with a compatible home theater system. The PS3 does so much more besides games, i was surprised i can stream (using WMP11 or Tversity) tons of my photos, videos and music from my PC and watch in on the big screen TV without copying over the files on its hard drive. My wife now really enjoys viewing all our photos/videos stored in my PC with it's 500GB external hard drive. I've downloaded a bunch of videos and demos on the Playstation network and the 80GB hard drive is more than enough to accommodate all my downloads. I think i still have more than half hard drive space available. I had concerns as well about PS3s overheating and fans being noisy but with this current model PS3 80GB i've never had any issues with heat nor noise and i've watched 3 bluray movies one time and never had any issues. The PS3 browser is a good plus as well although limited but you can do your normal surfing stuff including watching Youtube videos. The new 2.50 update fixed some of the Flash enabled websites and some sites load properly now. The folding home and Life are nice additions too although i seldom use it. I've read that the PS3 can now stream movies from Netflix as well which i haven't tried. If that is the case it's going be another big plus for me since i have a netflix account. I bought a Wii (walked in Bestbuy and there are tons of Wii's, just decided to get one because i had a hard time finding one before) after a week i got the PS3 and it took about a few days before i opened it up. When i did, it just sat there and was rarely used. The playstation 3 has already taken most of my time when i'm on it and there are just so much stuff i can do with it as i mentioned above. Overall, i'm very happy with it as a Bluray player, some games (Live 09 and GT4Pro) and a few more other stuff it can do. It's a great price too at $399 although i got it practically for free using my workplace recognition award gift certificates.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

The PS3 is a system still creating its identity, it's a really good system with great capabilities, and this year great exclusives are coming out in Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, and MGS4 is already out. Next year also has plenty of goodies, as well as the multiplatform games you could want.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I was a bit reluctant to purchase the new PS3 after hearing of some issues people were having with it, but I am extremely glad that I decided to get it. The interface is extremely easy to use and is very versatile. The wi-fi is fantastic and holds the connection perfectly. The graphics on the game play is spectacular in comparison to the PS2 and in my opinion compares and sometimes even beats alot of PC games that I have played.

I read alot of the reviews from people who have one and their positive opinions are part of what made me go ahead with the purchase.

If you are a platform gamer (playstation, xbox, etc.) you most certainly need to get this system. You will not regret it in any way.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB This instant

Reliability:
I own a video game store. One of the services that we provide is various repairs on most game consoles. In the last year, I have performed around 60 individual XBOX 360 repairs compared to 0 (zero) PS3 repairs. PS3 Wins Hands Down

Compatability:
The 60GB version of the PS3 is FULLY backwards compatible with PS2 and most PS 1 games. The new 80GB version has some limited backwards compatability. The 40GB version has no backwards compatability. All versions of the 360 (Arcade, Pro and Elite) have the same limited backwards compatability. At least PS3 has a version that is fully backwards compatable. PS3 WINS

Value:
The new 80GB version of the PS3 retails for $399.00. This includes an 80GB hard drive (obviously), built in Bluetooth, and built in WIFI. Oh and lets not forget that the DVD player in the PS3 will play all of your regular AND Blu-Ray DVDs. The lowest cost 360 is the Arcade version that retails for around $199. This version does not come with a hard drive which will cost you around $100 for 60GB, nor does it have built in WIFI. The WIFI adapter retails for around $100 also. So for $399 you essentially get 20GB less storage...oh and NO BLU RAY!!! PS3 WINS

Game Selection:
Let's say that most games nowadays are released on both PS3 and 360, but there are some titles that are exclusive to each. Some of the hotest exclusive titles are:

PS3 - Metal Gear Solid, SOCOM, Little Big Planet, Resistance 2
360 - Fable II, Gears of War 2 and of course Halo 3

Overall, since the 360 has been around for a few more years, there are more titles available, but some of the most popular like BioShock have been ported over now to the PS3...most of the others will follow suit (except Halo which will probably always be a 360 only title). 360 WINS (but not for very much longer)

So of the 3 main decision points as to which console to purchase. PS3 scored 3 out of 4 to the 360's score of 1 out of 4.

Let me also say that I make more money selling the 360 because of all of the periphery that you have to buy along with it (more margin in accessories) so I hope people continue to go in that direction. However, when viewed objectively, the PS3 is clearly the way to go.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Best Quality

Thursday, January 14, 2010 by Migo - Leave a comment

I own both a 360 and a PS3. I have no preference towards MS or Sony in general (i.e. I'm not a "fanboy" of either). I've seen enough evidence of games for both systems so far that the 360 does have a noticeable edge on graphics for games that are released for both systems. But PS3-only titles like Uncharted, GT5, and MGS are stunning. I'm sure in time dual-system titles will look equally good on the PS3. I mainly bought the PS3 for its Blu-Ray capabilities and for the PS3-only titles. Cannot wait for God of War!!!

This unit is very quiet and despite temporary graphic shortcomings (game developer's faults though) this is very cool. No slide-out tray for discs, eject and power buttons are sleek and sense pressure instead of clicking up and down. Blu-Rays look good to me, but I haven't owned any other BR player so I can't compare.

I'm not sure what else to say about it that hasn't already been said. It's a very high quality piece of equipment and has/will have some great exclusive titles.

Do yourself a favor. Don't agonize over which system to get (360 or PS3). Get them both!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

The PS3 (any version) has so much more than a regular blu ray player. You can play games, watch movies, search the internet, store files, etc...it is basically an entertainment computer with an amazing blu ray player.

I spent about a week rsrching costs and benefits for a blu ray player, but after reading all of the reviews and looking at prices the ps3 beats all hands down. Any blu ray players currently on the market with the same "blu ray only capabilities" are approximately the same cost as the ps3.

I did find some other good deals on blu ray only players such as the sony bdp - 350 1080p thru amazon.com, but even though it is much cheaper than the ps3, the decrease in cost still does not account for all of the additional features (and improved playback) that the ps3 provides.

Even you are not a big gamer, definitely go for the ps3!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Decide Now

I had sat on the sidelines of the next gen video games up until a couple of weeks ago. I had tried Wii almost as soon as it came out and was captivated by the motion sensors but the limited availability and sameness to the games as well as limited graphics was frustrating.

Xbox 360 the $50 a year subscription and more importantly it lost the Blu-ray/HD battle were big no points for me. I enjoy games, my wife does not. She does enjoy movies and the internet. When I pointed out that PS3 was a Blu-ray player (with excellent reviews) and could let us surf the internet, she was all for it.

I have an 'old' HDTV (3 years old). It has a maximum resolution of 1080i and a DVI input but no HDMI. I did some research before buying this so I bought an HDMI to DVI cable at the same time. I was worried about hooking it up and getting it to look right and also getting sound. I should not have been. It took literally a few minutes. Plugged the HDMI end into the PS3 and the DVI end into the HDTV. Received a picture (great picture) right away. It detected that 1080i was the highest resolution and I choose that.

Sound I simply choose the option to put sound out correctly and received gorgeous sound. I only use the speakers that came with the HDTV but it sounds fantastic on Blu-Ray. I can only imagine what people with surround sound systems will get.

The Blu-Ray discs are stunning. Even with 'just' 1080i. Truly beautiful. And it also up-converts very well. My favorite movies are the LOTR expanded editions. I have seen LOTR on TNT HD broadcasts. With the PS3 they look almost as good perhaps even better than the HD broadcasts. Also one of the coolest things and I have no idea if this for all Blu-Rays are just PS3 is that it remembers where you were on discs (Blu-ray and DVD discs)even if the disc was last played 8 discs ago. So say for instance you a third of the way through Fellowship. You then put a few game discs in, some other movie discs, then go back to Fellowship. It actually remembers where you left off that disc. Love it.

The internet browsing has been very cool. At first it was ok but it did not fill up the screen and the lettering was too small. But then I discovered zoom in and zoom out. And now it is really fun to browse. As an aside when I started browsing if someone was on our lap-top we would get a connection conflict and would not be able to surf on the lap-top. I called Linksys and they were able to change a bunch of settings on the router and it works just fine now, no problems on using both at the same time.

As for games I have Assassin's Creed and Oblivion now. Both look amazing. I have also downloaded demos for Mirror's Edge (stunning) and Motorstorm (fun and also amazing graphics). Even as a gamer truly I only really have time for a half dozen games every year or two or even three. A lot of these games last a long time. So in reality the 360s edge on variety is for all intents moot. I am planning to get Little Big Planet and maybe the new Spidey game when it comes down in price. That will more than hold me over to God of War and which ever other few games I will get in 2009. Having a handful of great games, to me, is more important than 50 titles coming out a year.

Bottomline is if you have an HDTV (particularly if you have a home theater set up) and no Blu-ray and enjoy gaming the PS3 is truly awesome. You get a great Blu-ray player, an 80gig hard drive, incredible gaming capabilities (just downloading the demos would be cool), internet browsing and video watching on your TV. You can also download the LIFE utility that has an incredibly cool visual globe where you can get live weather and news headlines around the world. And you can help cure diseases by linking to a Stanford project that looks at how proteins work and fold. If you allow it your processor can be added to the processing power being used for the Stanford project (when you are not gamin and such).

Sony has succeeded in making a truly great heart of your home media experience. This is so much more than Wii it isn't even close. And with Blu-ray and free Sony playstation network, it really is a much better value than any of the 360 choices you have. Right now heading into the 2008 holiday season, PS3 stands alone as clearly the best system and the best value. Not only for gamers but for the entire family.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Right now

This is my very first playstation I ever bought and its so amazing on what you can do on this system. Besides the obvious things you can do such as playing PS3 games and watching Blu-rays or DVDs, you can do much more with it. You can browse the internet. I watch youtube videos on there and other websites. (Though, you can't listen to music from myspace). You can also hook up a USB flash drive to it and look at pictures or listen to mp3 and some videos. Just think of it as a powerful portable computer.

It is also able to connect to a wireless router. Make things more convenient if you have a wireless router (which I don't).

Anyway, I bought this PS3 in October 2008 and been using it almost every day. So far, no problems. By the way, you may want to keep the system in a well ventilated area. If you put it inside a TV shelf, make sure you keep the doors open when you are using it. Like all other electronics, they do generate heat.

Some fine prints you may want to know about this particular PS3 80gb system: IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PS2 GAMES. I think it is compatible with ps1 games, but it cleary states its not compatible with PS2. I don't own any previous PS games, so it doesn't matter to me.

By the way, I've been watching many blu-rays in the past few weeks, and I'm a bit disappointed. With a DVD, the picture takes up the whole screen. With blu-ray, there's a top and bottom black bar, similar to a Widescreen DVD. I own a Sony Bravia KDL46W3000 and I expected blu-ray movies to take up the whole screen.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Low Price PlayStation 3 80GB

I have owned a PS3 for about 10 months now and have gotten every cent's worth from it. It's the keystone to my entertainment center now. Here are its highlights:

1. I use free TVersity media server running on my network and the PS3 will stream my movies, music, and images from any computer.
2. I can watch DivX movies in the PS3 and it will upscale the picture just as well as my Oppo DVD player.
3. It's a great Blu-Ray player and has the ability to update its version because Sony releases patches often. Also, if you have a Logitech Harmony remote: You can buy a Nyko Remote and use the USB dongle with the Harmony to control the PS3. Unfortunately, you just can't power the PS3 on.
4. Of course the games are great. The PS3 is relatively new, so once third party developers figure out how to fully utilize the hardware, then even better games will come out.

There is a drawback to my PS3. I have the 40GB version and am quickly running out of space. Grand Theft Auto 4 takes 3GB+, Metal Gear takes 4GB+, Rock Band takes 1GB+(with downloaded songs). I heard you can swap the hard drive yourself, but don't feel like investing an extra $60 until necessary. But I guess I should have considered that when deciding on the 40GB version over the 80GB version.

Other than that, this is a great device for entertainment. Hopefully, retailers will further drop the price or add incentive bundles for the holidays so this system is more attractive for buyers. A tough thing to ask for from a system that is already in the red, but it's gotta compete with the Wii and Xbox somehow.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I have owned an Xbox 360 Xbox 360 Elite System Console Includes 120GB Hard Drive for over a year and a PS3 Playstation 3 80GB for several months. This review is a short comparison. I prefer playing games on either console over my PC.

Xbox 360
Pros:
- more games available
- prefer the controller (not a major difference)
Cons:
- unable to play Blu-ray movies
- concerned about red ring of death
- produces so much heat that I cannot use it in summer (it is like a space-heater)
- the loud fan is annoying
- there is a fee for multi-player

PS3
Pros:
- plays Blu-ray HD movies
- produces much less heat
- quiet
- free multi-player
Cons:
- not as many games available yet
- prefer the Xbox controller

I generally prefer the PS3 by a wide margin. Unfortunately, at this time, one almost needs both to play the best games.

My suggestion to Microsoft is to include a Blu-ray player, fix the red ring of death, improve the hardware so that it uses less energy & is quiet, and make multi-player free.

My suggestion to Sony is to improve the design of the controller and make more games available.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

If you want a Blu-Ray - this is still the unit to buy. I tried the Samsung 2550 - but took it back after watching only half a movie.

This unit lives up to expectations from easy set up - to online upgrades to BD Live (a really cool feature you've got to try out) to load times.

Not sure about the future of Blu-Ray -- but this unit is a good bet for now.

Well, it is a solid console and makes almost no sound at all while using it. It has a great price considering how expensive blu-ray players are right now and the ps3 works perfectly as one. Buying PlayStation 3 80GB

Friday, January 8, 2010 by Migo - Leave a comment

I can't speak specifically fro the 80 gig but I know what the hardware differences are and I can address them.

The most important thing is games. At first, it was hard to make a case for the playstation with so few exclusives, but now, most of the big third party releases are multi-platform and the PS3 has just as many exclusives as the 360. If you just can't live without Halo or Gears of War, then the PS3 can't help you just as much as the 360 can't help you with LittleBigPlanet or Metal Gear Solid 4. I have noticed that some games do look better on the 360 but the difference is really negligible, and I feel the other advantages far outweigh this.

Of the PS3 games, I recommend Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Warhawk, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Grand Theft Auto IV.

As far as Downloadable games, there are some really solid innovative titles. PixelJunk Monsters is as addictive as tower defense games go but also really beautiful and mesmerizing. If you have a good 1080p hdtv you will appreciate the intricate detail in such a simple game. Echochrome is also a really innovative puzzle game. I also enjoy Operation creature feature as a good game to show friends who are less into games. There are many others and almost all have a free demo so you can try it out.

These downloads are all available via the playstation network which is the great online component of PS3. Before the PS3 I had never done online gaming, my computer was too slow and I didn't want to pay online fees or for extra peripherals. The PS3 made it really easy to connect to the PSN. I just set the wifi to connect to my router (all current models of the PS3 have built in Wifi) and since it's free, I didn't hesitate to sign up. I know most people talk about the PSN being inferior to Xbox Live but I don't know what more I could ask for, I can play games online, set up a buddy list, send messages and pictures, chat with or without video, download movies, demos, trailers and full games. I don't really care to do social networking through my game console but if you like, the much delayed playstation home is supposed to provide a virtual space to meet and chat using 3d avatars. My only complaint in the PSN is that the download speed seems pretty slow.

All of the non-gaming features are accessed through the xrossmedia bar which is extremely easy and intuitive to use.

Now for the media connectivity. It's awesome! The model I have has a built in card reader, but with the new models, you can purchase the Playstation 3 Media Hub+ which will not only add 2 USB ports but also a memory card reader. I always use the PS3 to show family pictures and slideshows, it's fast and easy to use and you can rotate and zoom on the fly. It's just as easy to watch movies from your digital cameras, and listening to MP3s from a CD or flash drive is enhanced by some great visualizers.

The PS3 is pretty forgiving with peripherals, I have a Mac Keyboard hooked up to it and a Jabra bluetooth headset. The hard drive can easily be switched out with one from any company as long as its the right size. The system itself will guide you through the swap out process. the controller is the same great layout from Playstation 2 with an added home button, and R2 and L2 have become triggers. I recently bought RealTriggers which help but I used it for a year an a half without.

I can't say enough about how awesome Blu-ray is. I hear a lot of people talking about upscaled DVD being just as good, but if you ever see any blu-ray on a 1080p screen, you can appreciate the difference. The image is so clean and crisp, even the sound is noticeably better. The jump in image quality is jaw dropping. I especially recommend Transformers, 300, Casino Royale, Spider-Man 3, Planet Earth, and Sunshine [Blu-ray] as great films to Showcase the Blu-rays capabilities. That being said, the PS3's DVD upscaling is also good. If you've ever played a DVD on a PS2, the same controls apply. Fast forward, rewind, skip, play, stop are all easy, it's just a shame there's no dedicated top menu button.

Overall, this system is great. A bit pricey but totally worth the cost (especially compared to 360 plus the added price of online fee and overpriced proprietary peripherals). An essential part of any modern home theater system.

Hard Drive Update:
I just upgraded the hard drive on my PS3 from 60 to 250 gigs. It could not have been easier. I purchased a Seagate Momentus 5400.4 ST9250827AS - Hard drive - 250 GB - internal - 2.5" - SATA-300 - 5400 rpm - buffer: 8 MB. I chose seagate because of the price and because PS3 comes with a seagate by default but any brand should do. C-net has a great step by step tutorial on the specifics of hard drive swap. Other than backing up my data and restoring it (I used a separate external hard drive) the swap out process itself took less than 10 minutes.
Now I'm downloading PSN games willy nilly and don't have to worry about running out of space.
an interesting side note, you can use any external hard drive that is formatted FAT32.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Buy PlayStation 3 80GB

I'll make this brief:

Recently bought a PS3. (About a month ago). I have had a lot of fun with it so far, and would like to say it is worth the price tag! (And technically is a better buy than the Xbox 360 in many respects!) Allow me to reiterate, however, I am not saying this is a better system, simply it is a better value. (The PS3 has an internal wireless internet reciever, but for the Xbox 360 you need to buy an external one for $99.)

I have purchased the following games to play on this system: Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, and Socom: Confrontation. The graphical prowess of this system really shines (Especially in Metal Gear Solid 4) and trumps anything I've seen on the Xbox 360. I have owned the Xbox 360 for years, and yes I still thoroughly play and enjoy that system as well.

The games look phenomenal in HD, and I recommend those that can take advantage of that technology do so when buying this system. The one regret I do have is that, in my opinion, not enough big AAA exclusive games can be found on this system, but there is enough variety that it will be well worth it. Look out for Killzone 2 to make a big splash.

Purchase PlayStation 3 80GB

I just purchased this item (after being assured by many that it would play ps2 games) set it up and immediately boxed it up and returned it because it does not play ps2 games. I understand the early ones do but not this new generation. Well, they certainly lost me and I will not ever buy one UNTIL it allows you to play the games you already have. for $400.00 it should wash the clothes and do the dishes too!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Order PlayStation 3 80GB

The Ps3 offers mind blowing gaming and I love it. One of the big upsides is the whisper quiet system. I own an xbox 360 and know thats about as loud as you can get. I got it with 4 Blu-Rays and the 80GB for [...]. Dualshock is good but not as good as the Xbox 360's controller to me. I think I'll put in a USB hub since the 80GB has only two ports. Though not as easy to use as 360 the CrossBar has many more features than that of the 360. If your considering buying a xbox 360, don't! This system can play Blu-Rays and has a high HDD capacity that can be upgraded to 320GB(as little as [...]) or 500GB(around [...]). Love al the things that can be put on it(another OS, music, video, Internet browser(a bit slow), pictures) Another upside is that the gaming community is much improved and much more friendly than 360's. There are very few PS3 network people that cuss. When I play 360 it is more like a hate room than a game room. Love the free network membership(you can make 8 accounts). Only thing about online is you can't pay to change your name once you make it(it's set in stone) Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.
