PlayStation 3 80GB Right now

I have owned my PS3 for about a month and just love it. I use it for both Blu-Ray movies as well as gaming and in both aspects it performs flawlessly. Setting up the unit and making little tweaks and settings took a little time, but nothing out of the ordinary. My only complaint is the lack of PS2 compatability because I have a lot of PS2 games, but oh well, I still have my PS2 player and it works just fine. I would like to see the prices of games come down a little, same with Blu-Ray movies, but I guess the more people purchase these units prices will hopefully come down. Overall-Very satisfied with this unit!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I probably shouldn't have written this review because I won't tell you anything that you can't read below but I just received my system a few days ago and I am so excited I feel, like Ron Burgundy, like shouting my love from a mountain-top.

I was never big on video games (exceptions: Grand Theft Auto; Bioshock; Handful of others) and I can't tell you how this system compares to other video game consoles (although I think all will agree that the games on this system look the best by far). All I can tell you is that GTA and CoD and every other game I've played on this system looks great and is tremendous fun. The blu-rays look amazing, the blu-ray's upward conversion makes your old dvds look fantastic and if you upgrade to 320 or 500 (as I did) GB, it's basically a fully functioning computer as well (web browsing could be more user-friendly, but playing movies, music, and storing photos are mostly what people are going to use this thing for).

So... computer, blu-ray player, cd player, video game console for $400 (+ your upgrades, I probably spent another $100 with $80 going to the hard drive upgrade). It's basically the greatest thing ever made (along with the iPod and Kindle). Just add TV.

One word of advice: Make sure you buy the 5400 rpm hard drives when you upgrade (and you'll likely want to).Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I have had my PS3 since it first came out and love it. The PS3 gets constant updates for the firmware automatically via the internet and always works with the latest blu ray movies. Mine still works from the day I bought it with no problems!!!

You can surf the net, watch dvds, blu-rays, plays music cds, mp3s, plays them off the hard drive, divx files, camera pictures, you name it, it plays it, all for under $400. This is a steal. The PS3 has one of the best audio out puts out there for a Blu Ray player.

Alot of special bundle deals on Amazon.com right now that make this even more affordable. Don't pass up on the PS3 this holiday, there are too many great games, and too many great Blu ray movies coming out that you need to view on your HD TV!!! Once you do Blu, you don't go back!!!!

Plenty of reviews have been written about the PS3. I'm not going to bore you with another review. I love my PS3. It is really good with Blu-Ray movies and the two video games I've bought so far have been amazing.

I only want to warn you that the PS3 does NOT come with an HDMI CABLE. If you want the best picture, you need an HDMI cable. This is about another [...]and another trip to the store, if you're like me.

Also, if you have a surround sound with a fiber optic port, you'll want to get a fiber optic cable for the audio. This is way better sound as well. The fiber optic cable will run you about [...].Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I'm rating this a two because the number of system software updates far exceeds that of any product I have thus encountered. It seems like every week you can not play online until you go through yet another software update which is about a 10-15 minute process.

It appears that Sony has literally no firmware release strategy and as a customer it is extraordinarily annoying and quite frankly not acceptable.

I love this system!
I had to give it 4 stars because I see it is not backward compatible. I cannot understand why they would do that.
I bought this system because of 2 reasons. I wanted it to play Blu Ray movies and I figured my kids would love it to play the games. Movies look great with this both standard and Blu-Ray DVD's.

We got our 80gig system for Christmas last year (2007). We've had to send it out once back to Sony, but it came back quickly. Now, we're facing the dreaded "over heating" problem and are on the look out for a fan that's not too noisy.

Overall, though, it's brought us MUCH happiness and enjoyment!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Where To Buy PlayStation 3 80GB

by Migo - Leave a comment

Just for reference, a word about the reviewer: I'm a 26 year old male making claims based on what I've thought and what I've heard said by my female and male peers.

What most amazes me about the PS3s reception is how often i see talk about its price (i.e. how expensive it is). So let me frame this review in light of this:

1- The competition: the PS3s main competitor is the Xbox360. Another competitor is the Wii. At the time of this review, the Xbox360's cheapest bundle is 199$. This is a 360 with no games and no hard disk. The most expensive bundle is 399$ with a 120GB hard disk and two okay games (look up their reviews).
The Wii, when its not in short supply, costs 249$. It doesn't have a hard disk, and comes with 1 sports game.

2- The PS3: Now assuming we are going to pay 200 or 250$ for the competition, and no more (though this is doubtful given peripheral needs and so on) let's consider the ps3 as a competitor selling for 399. A considerable 150$ or 200$ more, right? But let's consider what we get:

A- The 399$ model comes with an 80GB hard disk. The wii doesn't have a hard disk, and the xbox360 would cost 100$ less with 60GB, and would be the same price with a 120Gb hard disk.

B- The PS3, as of Dec 5-2008 remains the top Blu-ray player available. Of course Blu-ray is the new replacement for DVDs. Some time ago it had a competitor, the HD-DVD which the 360 supported (via an add on), but since then HD-DVD production has ceased. So for all practical purposes, Blu-ray is the new dvd. Now given that the PS3 is not only a blu-ray player (where as of now, the cheapest -and I mean cheapest- player is approx. 200$), but the BEST blu-ray player (see: http://ps3.qj.net/Blu-ray-player-benchmark-tests-show-PS3-still-the-best/pg/49/aid/127072), and given that neither the Wii nor the 360 play anything but DVD's (in fact the Wii doesn't, at least not legally), we can see clearly that a PS3 is the equivalent of buying a console (say for 200-250$) and a blu-ray player (say for 200$). In total, that would cost 400-450$, which is equal/more than the ps3 costs. Bear in mind that we've just compared the PS3 to a cheap (and therefore bad) Blu-ray player with a harddisk-less console. The PS3 at 400$ is the best blu-ray player with 80GB.

C-Consider the hardware next. The Wii is clearly different here, since its drastically weaker. As far as the 360 and the PS3 are concerned, a slightly outdated technical comparison chart (http://www.ps3focus.com/archives/40) is available, but also consider the following link: http://ps3.qj.net/PS3-Cell-powered-Roadrunner-rated-king-in-Top-500-Supercomputers-list/pg/49/aid/126379. Now my point is not that the PS3s hardware is better than the 360s, though this a hardware fact. My point is that the PS3s hardware has had some real work put into it, even if programming is more difficult on it. The best games now haven't gotten nearly close enough to the PS3s limit. If you think about first generation PS1 or PS2 games versus the final generations, you see a huge graphical gap. The PS3s gap will at least be as large, even though Sony's official statement is that the PS3s lifetime will be at least a couple of years longer. Of course the 360 will have its own gap, but with lesser hardware, we should expect a smaller gap. That and the fact that 360 has aged more the PS3, and so less `gap' is left. As it stands, at least as far as hardware is concerned, the PS3 is the better investment (and I stress the investment part).

D- The all important games. There's no doubt that 360 has more games than the ps3. I'm not sure about the Wii. But here are some facts gathered from www.gamespot.com (please feel free to confirm!). At the time of writing this, the 360 has 107 games that have rated over 8.0, the Wii 33 games, and the PS3 74 games. But now consider this: the PS3 is 2 years old with 74 'good' games. The 360 is 3 years old with 107 'good' games. But if you look at the 360s games, you see that 51 of the 'good' games were released in 2008. This means that in the 360s first two years there were 56 'good' games only. So the often cited claim, that the 360 has a bigger library is indeed a true claim, but not one that makes the 360 a better game console. In fact, if Sony releases only 35 'good' games in 2009 (which is a really an unrealistic estimate), they would still top the 360s library. Of course it makes no sense to say this since simultaneously the 360 will be releasing its own titles. All I'm trying to point to is that the `bigger game library' argument is a false one. In fact, most realistically, the 3 consoles have more good games than most of us can buy. The real question is, what are you looking for in your games?

E-What are you looking for in your games? If you're buying a console for the exclusive use of your child (or maybe a family of non-gamers) then surely the Wii is a great and cheap investment, even if it lacks a lot. But if you're a gamer from before this generation of consoles, then the Wii is obviously a stupid way to go. After spending a couple of hours flicking your arm, it becomes clear that the Wii is a toy designed to expand the video game market, and not a real gaming console for old gamers. Perhaps you go out and buy the plethora of Wii controllers to have a decent experience, but with the Wii's graphics (and I know graphics don't make a game, but they surely help!) I see no incentive to actually play anything (god forbid that you have an HDTV to further mar the experience of the Wii's 480p). That and the fact that the majority of the Wii's games were designed with kids in mind. If you truly think Zelda on the wii is a good game for an adult (look 17+ is fine), then nothing I say will convince you. Our personal feeling (my girlfriend, myself, and 2 good friends) after buying Zelda and irritating ourselves for about 10hrs, was that the reviewers really failed to stress that the game was JUST for children. Anyway, so much for the Wii. I nevertheless find it to at least be a tastefully designed system, an original piece if nothing more (and it is something more).
Now if you're a gamer, your choices are really the 360 and the ps3. I won't try to adjudicate between the two consoles games, though I am biased towards the PS3s games which I find more original and varied (e.g. LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, Metal Gear 4, dare I say Singstar and Buzz -shudder-). I think that's partly because I also don't consider violence in a game to be an immediate plus, which someone in Microsoft must think considering the games on the 360. Anyway, there's a more important reason not to decide, namely that the 360 and PS3 have a huge overlap in titles. Let's leave it at that then.

F-Quality. This is the last argument I'll make. First, let's be clear about the Wii status, and please earlier Wii comments. The Wii is a pretty product with many quality titles by Nintendo, as usual. Unfortunately, the Wii is in its own world, it needed to come out a generation ago instead of the failed Gamecube. It's really PS2 competition at best. For that reason, while it is a good quality product, its not really relevant as a competitor in this generation. So for now lets go out and look at the PS3s front end and the 360s, consider the exclusives on each, and in general keep in mind the innovation and tastefulness aspects. I think it's clear that PS3s XMB is more tastefully designed than the 360s. I admit that there are some functionality issues, especially back in the PS3s early days. But I submit that Sony has showed continuing support through its updates on the functionality level. Now consider tastefulness and innovation: consider the PS3 XMB, Home, Life with Playstation/Folding@Home and LittleBigPlanet. Consider Microsoft's claims at creating a 'killer' of each. An example: the 360s new avatars presented after the Wii and the PS3s avatars. Surely you see the resemblance between the 360 avatars and the Wii avatars? Surely you see the added graphical edge (over the Wii) that's supposed to distinguish 360s avatars. And surely you must see, that this whole avatar is a distorted copy of the Miis. That it is completely inconsistent with how the 360 has presented its self thus far. Its now unclear whether 360 is a PS3 killer or a Wii killer. A killer it is that's for sure, that Microsoft treats its customers this way, that it cares so little for originality.
Let me put it most straightforwardly: Microsoft has demonstrated in the past that money, not quality is its aim. If you want proof look at wonderful Windows Vista. Look at Windows XP. And look at the new Windows, whatever its called. Apple did a lot to improve their status from a few years back, but customers accepted to switch partially because Microsoft demonstrated a lack of caring and competence with its software. I want to suggest that Microsoft is now doing the same in the video game industry. Anyone who follows game news (and I obviously do!) knows that the game industry is one of the most rapidly expanding industries. This means large profits, and is an invitation for competition. Microsoft entered the market with that purpose in mind, and I think the following facts demonstrate that they're not interested in their consumer, but only in their own capitalist enterprise:
>1- They abandoned the original Xbox as soon as it started looking difficult. The machine was marred by software and hardware crashes, and the consumer was requested to buy the 360
>2- The 360 also suffered software and hardware crashes, infamously the 360 is well known to be a flimsily put together piece of equipment (For a humorous duo of demonstrations see:http://www.ps3vault.com/how-to-kill-a-ps3-console-1975 followed by http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/289684.html - For a less humorous but more factual piece: http://venturebeat.com/2008/09/05/xbox-360-defects-an-inside-history-of-microsofts-video-game-console-woes/). But flimsiness is the cost of cheapness, though admittedly Microsoft did recall some of its utterly defective machines. This however doesn't change the facts, that Microsoft would rather make money than give a quality product
>3- The 360 has undergone massive price-cuts to stay competitive. In time, Microsoft might just drop the 360 as fast it dropped the original. For now, it convinces the uneducated consumer through its low price.
>4- Microsoft's aggressive competition: competition by paying more for exclusives, paying more to make the game worse (e.g. forcing the producer into making the 360 the lead console), is not `fair' competition. Competition should be through producing higher quality stuff, not through higher money deals.

So this concludes my argument. I've surely gone on too long, and one might wonder what personal interest might I have in this. Well, not much, in fact this whole thing is an accident created by having strong coffee, being on a break from my PhD. program because of a strike, and my personal love of facts and gaming. I hate seeing people ripped off all the time by marketers, and I hate that consumers don't take the time to learn the facts. Finally, I really dislike uneducated decisions, even though I understand that not everyone has the time for research. But that's why I've written this, now you have at least one elaborate description of events. I've overstayed my welcome, cheers!

Edit - Since my original review, the PS3 streams much better. It is either the firmware updates that have been applied, or the fact that I am now running windows 7 RC instead of XP. Either way, the PS3 streams much better than originally - in fact I would say it is a better media streaming device than my x360. That being said, I own very few ps3 games and I don't ever play them so I'm leaving my review at a 3* in general. /edit

I bought a ps3 basically as a media center / DVD player in my bedroom (and because there are a couple PS3 exclusive games I wanted to play). I have typically had my computer hooked up to my TV via a very long composite A/V cable in the walls. I primarily use it for watching TV shows when I go to bed. As I was replacing my TV with a new HD LCD, I decided it was time to move away from the dated composite cable and crummy picture. Unfortunately the PS3 was a bad choice, as it skips and stutters when streaming media. I can't find any logic in when it does it, and it doesn't do it constantly but it sure is aggravating when it does. Reading on the interwebs it appears this is a PS3 firmware problem.

The other annoying thing is that even though it should stream just fine with the new WMP software, I can't get the PS3 to find any files (though it does usually locate the folder structure). My computer is XP Pro, it finds files in my brother's XPMCE though. I ended up having to use TVersity which seems to work OK.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Review

Thursday, December 24, 2009 by Migo - Leave a comment

You can rant all you want, at the end of the day the Xbox 360 is the better gaming console (Graphically and media streaming wise). Take it from me, I have both consoles...Fine, the PS3 support bluray and YES it does an amazing job, but the primary function of these systems is "Gaming" - and the Xbox 360 does the best job in that department. Blu-Ray Playback, DVD upconversion, Media streaming, Online content, Online rentals (Netflix on the 360), etc are all just "icing on the cake". From my experience, media streaming (music playback) is not as fluid on the PS3 as it is on the 360. When I skip from track to track, while streaming from my computer, on the Xbox - it's almost gapless, while the PS3 takes about 3-4 secs to kick in. Also you play your music and mess with the console systems settings on the 360 while the music is still playing, but it's a different story on the PS3 - music stop ( Ps3 owner can attest to this). For you to get a gapless or almost instantaneous playback of your music files on the PS3 you have to copy the music to the console itself ( which is what I did).
Bottomline is, The PS3 sounds better on Paper but the 360 actually has the better graphics when it comes to gameplay, and if you doubt me.....do the comparism yourself.

I got the PS3 for $199(which included the remote, Blu-Ray Movie, and a game) with the Amazon Customer Vote promotion so I cant really complain. I use the PS3 as a Blu-ray player.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB This instant

Wednesday, December 23, 2009 by Migo - Leave a comment

I have had a PS3 for a little over two years and I thought I would weigh in on it. I first got it December of 2006, and the games were few and far between. It sat untouched for 6 months save for Resistance: Fall of Man. Once the games started to roll in (it began with Warhawk in August 07), I play at least 4 to 5 times a week, sometimes for up to 2 or 3 hours a day. With all the great games out I don't think finding something to suit your tastes will be too hard, and don't forget about some big titles due in the first quarter of 09.

Positives: Free online play. this one is a biggie. pretty self explanatory. You can play games online for free. Downloadable content may cost some money, and games aren't free, just playing them online is.

built in wifi. no add-ons needed.

2.5" SATA hard drive can be swapped for bigger ones if you need some extra room for games, movies, music, pictures, ect.

Blu-ray format is standard on PS3.

The Playstation Network, or the online portion of PS3, is coming around very nicely. This includes the Playstation Store, Home, Trophies, Friends list, ect.

HDMI compatible means the best picture and sound possible when connected to an HD-capable TV and Reciever. Perfect for a top-quality home theater experience.

Negatives: Lacks some features the 360 has had since its launch(example: on the PS3, you can't talk to your friends through a headset unless you are in the same game, the 360 doesn't have this limitation. Also, the Xbox Live Marketplace is a bit more robust and has a wider selection than the PSNetwork. PSN is slowly gaining ground, it is much better than 2 years ago.)Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Unfortunately the 160Gb version went on a very competitive price 2 days later. I felt fooled.

Beyond this, the PS3 is just great. Kids will stick to WII and teenagers and adults stick to this one. IMPRESSIVE graphics and speed.

5 stars for system performance. 2 stars for game selection. 3.5 stars overall.

I have the 40GB version of the the PS3 which is no longer offered, but that is not important for the purposes of this review. I've had the system for about a year. I did a lot of research prior to purchasing the PS3. My reasons for selecting this system over the Xbox was that the PS3 comes with a built in Blu-ray player, the system has a reputation of being more reliable, and the graphics are (theoretically) better.

Indeed, the Blu-ray player is a nice feature. Blu-ray DVDs look fabulous. Additionally, the PS3 does a great job of upconverting standard DVDs which look nearly as good as Blu-rays (I have a 1080p 42 inch LCD television so am able to notice some improved detail on the Blu-ray but it is not dramatic). I should note that the PS3 does not come with a remote control (other than the wireless controller for game play). They do sell a remote control separately, however, and I recommend purchasing it if you play to use this system as your DVD player. If you use an integrated remote control (Harmony, etc.), you will have to purchase an infrared adapter as the PS3 uses Bluetooth.

1 year after purchase, my PS3 is working fine. I've had no problems with the system. It easy connected to my home network and the PS3 updates its operating system periodically over the Internet. I've experienced no hardware or software failures.

From my perspective, the biggest limitation of the PS3 is the selection of available games. Quite simply, there are not that many great games, and most of the games that are available can also be played on Xbox. I knew this was a limitation when I bought the system but I figured they would be rolling out a lot of new games over the next year. I was wrong. The only two games I have played that are 1. great and 2. exclusive to PS3, are Uncharted (far and away the best PS3 game) and Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. And both of these games were available a year ago. In the last 12 months there have been no games released worth mentioning that are PS3 exclusives.

As to the graphic processing capabilities of the PS3, they are indeed impressive. That being said, I don't notice any substantive difference between graphics on Xbox games versus PS3 games.

In short, if you are debating between buying an Xbox or a PS3, I think it comes down to whether you are going to primarily use the system for games or DVDs. If for games, get an Xbox. The game selection is dramatically better than the PS3 and there is no substantive difference in the gaming experience. Additionally, the hardware reliability problems that plagued the Xbox a year ago have mostly been resolved. And the Xbox is significantly cheaper. If, on the other hand, you are primarily looking for a Blu-ray player, or you really want one device to play both games and Blu-ray DVDs, then the PS3 is your system (though there are now significantly less expensive stand alone Blu-ray players on the market, which was not true a year ago...)Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I really recomend to others because in many facts I think it is superior than the xbox 360, like in the bluray drive, because in a ps3 you have already a HD drive with a powerfull gaming console and a very interactive computer, where you can chat with others and sending message to them, also with the ps eye you can what them; by the contrary the 360 you have to buy the HD drive, and you have to pay for playing in online and you can't experience the 100% of the concole if you don't area gold member.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Decide Now

I am not much of a gamer but my children play games quite a bit. I think the PS3 is a compelling buy because it is also a Blu Ray disc and CD player. It can also play music and videos stored on the internal hard drive. This means that if I only have DVDs, Music CDs or Blu Ray discs to play, I can couple the PS3 with a good home theater receiver and I have everything I need. It takes up less room than multiple components and eliminates a few cables. I use a single HDMI cable to take all video and audio output to an HDMI equipped Yamaha receiver and it works beautifully. Furthermore, the technical specs and actual performance of the CD/DVD/Blu Ray sections are very good. The oft lamented Bluetooth DVD remote also means that I can hide the PS3 in a cabinet since it does not need to be line of sight to work.
The software interface is visually pleasing and easy to navigate, Blu Ray discs spool up quickly and the hardware is attractive. The piano black finish, however, is a bit of a drag when it comes to getting dusty. The only other demerit I would note is that the version I have has only two USB ports on the front. Three or four would have been ideal. Mine has been in operation now for six months with no issues whatsoever. We have been generally happy with the games that are available since I limit the amount of gameplay that my children can have and therefore they have been happy with a few good titles (e.g. Motor Storm, Ghost Recon...)Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I don't play games but bought it for blu ray player exclusively. Get it home but wont play blu ray disc? Come to find out it needs firmware update. Ok. Website said I can use sd card but my player does not have sd card slot. Call Sony cs and they say my model only has usb. I can use usb or usb to usb cable and hook directly to pc. I don't have cable or usb drive. You would think the geniuses at Sony would design a dvd player that can update via dvd/cd duh! But noooooo, I paid over $400, plus now I must spend more if I want it to work. Sony cs is a joke. Everything one will need to use this junk should come with it. If you want a excellent bly ray then check out the Panasonic DMP-BD35K 1080p Blu-ray Player or Pioneer BDP-51FD - Blu-Ray disc player - upscaling both compete head to head with ps3 for blu ray and if u need to update u can use disk. Sony has really gone down hill. It amazes me that people still go crazy for them. Just shows what good marketing can do. Oh well someone is going to get a relly good deal on the ps3. I took it back with pleasure.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Low Price PlayStation 3 80GB

This is a review of the second PS3 that I have purchased for personal use. My first PS3 was a 60 GB launch system that included full backwards compatibility, media card slots, and 4 USB ports. It has worked like a champ since I bought it, but since my girlfriend had became so fond of it, I had to get another one for myself.

It is my intention to give the reader an accurate description of what the new 80 GB standard PlayStation 3 SKU is and what it isn't.
It is, in my honest opinion, the best video gaming platform on the market AND the best HD home theater device on the market. No piece of consumer electronics can do everything that the PlayStation 3 can do. One might argue the same of the PS3's main rival, the Xbox 360 (of which I own also), but then again...the 360 doesn't play Blu-Ray.

Blu-Ray is an important caveat in this generation's gaming war. If you have an HDTV, Blu-Ray really makes it shine. Sony has triumphed in the format war, at the cost of alienating its core gamer audience. The PS3 is an expensive piece of hardware, but you get what you pay for. It is a dependable, well built, attractively designed video game console. It looks GREAT with the rest of your high end audio and video equipment. Picture quality output on Blu-Ray movies is pristine on a high quality HDTV. Standard Definition DVD's are upscaled to HD resolution with the use of the PS3's HDMI port.

I am bummed out about the lack of backwards compatibility, the lack of media card slots, and only having 2 USB ports. It's not a deal breaker, but I admit that I was spoiled by the features of my $599 launch console. The trim on the PS3 is no longer chrome; instead it is more of a matte silver finish. The PS3 is no longer "blinging".

Is this "new and improved" 80 GB PS3 better than the original?
The answer is no, BUT...the new PS3 runs A LOT QUIETER than the original. Honestly, the original wasn't loud either, but this one practically runs silently. The smaller version of the Cell Processor 65nm was used in this SKU. It also runs cooler. Sony didn't just take out features, they took out the expendable features and replaced them with more efficient chips...

You're also getting FREE online gaming on the PlayStation Network and the ability to download DivX movies right onto your hard drive! The web browser is now Flash enabled to allow for basic web browsing and easy e-mail access.

Finally, last but not least, you can use your PS3 to wirelessly stream your movies, music, and pictures from your PC or Mac. If you have a PSP, you can use Remote Play to connect your PSP to your PS3 from any wireless point in the world. Cool stuff...and it works.

What about the games? I can't understand what people are talking about when they say the PS3 doesn't have great games. It's utter nonsense. Here is a short list of MUST PLAY PS3 games, most of which, are exclusive to the PlayStation franchise.
1. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
2. Little Big Planet
3. Resistance 2
4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
5. Warhawk
6. Pixel Junk Monsters
7. Uncharted Drake's Fortune
8. Grand Theft Auto 4
9. Valkyria Chronicles
10. Fallout 3

Simply put, at $200 cheaper than the original launch price the PS3 is an absolutely awesome piece of home theater equipment that deserves to be the showcase of any HD living room. The Sony PlayStation brand, built up with 12 years of console dominance, is still a major force in the gaming industry.

BUY ONE! IN THE LONG RUN, YOU ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT REGRET IT.

PS3 is a multimedia juggernaut.. if you want to download movies, play blu ray, listen to music.. search the net.. this is probably the best in the market right now according to cnn money. However, as a gaming console alone it lacks big time because of the games available.. if you want a blu ray player buy this now. If you want this console strictly for gaming wait till next year where all the games a supposedly going to release.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

First off, I'm not much of a console gamer. I primarily bought the ps3 as a blu-ray player and as a media player. For those purposes, it has exceeded my expectations!

The ps3 provides an excellent upconversion for existing DVDs as well.

What really impressed me was the Media Server function which allows me to turn on the Media Share option in Windows Vista and it shares my movies and music over my home network so I can watch videos I download on my TV or play my music through my sound system hooked up to my TV.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase!Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Cheapest PlayStation 3 80GB

The Playstation 3 console probably provides the most entertainment value for your holiday shopping dollars this season. More than just a video game console, this system is also a top-notch Blu-Ray player. It plays regular DVDs as well as Blu-Ray. If you have a high definition TV, or are planning to get one in the future, the PS3 should be on your shopping list.

I own all of the major video game consoles, with the exception of the Nintendo Wii. The Playstation 3 gets the most usage because of its versatility. Not only does it play Blu-Ray and regular DVD, it is also capable of downloading movies and television shows from the Playstation Store. There are currently over 1,000 movies available for rent or download from the Playstation Store, and the inventory is growing at a very rapid rate. Even if you do not play games, you will find it hard to ever be bored if you have one of these consoles in your living room.

All three of the major consoles (PS3, XBox360, Wii, PS2) have big blockbuster games coming out in 2009. The PS3 lineup, just like the PS2's, promises to have something for everyone, from the casual gamers to the hardcore players. If you are looking to buy a console that the whole family can use, you will find it in the PS3.

This version of the PS3 will not play video games that were made for the PS2. This function, referred to as "backwards compatibility" is available only on the more expensive ($500) model of the PS3. If there is something to be criticized about this otherwise perfect console, it would have to be that, the lack of backwards compatibility. If backwards compatibility is important to you, then you will need to spend an additional $100 and purchase the PS3 model with that feature, like I did. For most people, I suspect that backwards compatibility may not be that important. It is important if you own a very large library of PS2 games. If not, then save the money and buy this model.

I have tried both models and eventually decided to get the one with backwards compatibility, but that is because I currently have a large inventory of older video games. For your information, I buy and sell video games for additional income. In other words, you might say I am a "pro". But most people will not demand that much from their consoles (I also own the Elite version of the XBox 360). This PS3 model should be more than what the typical user will ever need.

The Sony Playstation brand has always stood for good value right from the start. There are many games for the Playstation and the Playstation 2 that have actually gone up in value over the years. I have recently sold an original edition (black label, not Greatest Hits) of the Playstation game "Xenogears" for $120! Last year, I sold a copy of Final Fantasy 7 for about the same amount of money. I do believe that no other brand in video games hold their value, or in some cases appreciate in value, than the Playstation brand. You really cannot go wrong should you invest in the brand. I am hoping the same thing will happen with the PS3.

This model, like all other PS3 model, does not come with an HDMI cable. You will get the very best picture quality through HDMI. You should be able to pick up one of these cables from any of your major retailers for a small amount of money. I suggest that you use HDMI. The 80GB hard drive is very easy, and very cheap, to upgrade. It uses the same hard drive as most laptop computers.

This version of the PS3 console benefits from the latest Sony engineering. It actually operates cooler than the other model and uses less power. The backwards compatible model uses the older power supply, which consumes more power and runs a little bit warmer. All models of the PS3 operate flawlessly and they do not have a tendency to overheat. They have proven to be very solid and reliable. But it is always better to have a unit that operates as cool as possible and uses the least amount of electricity. The silent operation will also allow you to enjoy your Blu-Ray and DVDs even in a quiet room. Basically, this is the PS3 model that I would recommend for most people.

Should you buy a video game/entertainment console this Holiday season?

In my humble opinion, these entertainment consoles are the greatest entertainment value for your dollar during these tough economic times. If you compare the cost of a vacation, or the cost of taking your family out to the movies, you will see that the cost of a video game console compares very favorably. And these consoles (at least the Sony consoles) have the potential to last for a long time. My PS2 is eight years old and still runs perfectly. There is no reason not to expect the same durability from the PS3. And let's remember that this console plays movies. This console can really open up all kinds of entertainment possibilities for you and your family this Holiday season, and beyond. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

One could find a lot of reviews that state good about the ps3 console. So I will focus on some of the minor inconveniences.

1) Very few (only 2) USB ports. And all these are present in the front. I would prefer the USB ports at the back of the console.
2) When the PS3 network is down, the account management hangs.
3) Network games are good but even with broadband internet connection the games still seem to have some kind of a delay.
4) Games are expensive
5) I couldn't find any learning games for my 5 year old.

well.. I'm only giving it 3 stars because mine gave up the ghost. I bought mine here at Amazon because I wouldnt have to pay my 6% state sales tax and free shipping.
It crapped out after only 2 weeks. No picture and no sound. I was playing Bioshock the night before and shut it down like normal. The next day I turned it on and nothing happened. I'm a 44 year old adult so it wasn't abused.
I went through Amazons easy return process. I chose refund instead of exchange so that I could reorder a new one and get it shipped out immediatly. Hopefully this one will last alot longer. My PS2 fatboy lasted for years and it still worked when I sold it on Ebay.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

The Playstation 3 video game console may seem expensive, but you more than get your money's worth. I has great games, it's a blu ray player, and it works great as a media center.

First and foremost it's about the games. Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, Grand Theft Auto IV, FallOut 3, Encharted, and Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction are just some of the fantastic games available.

The second best reason to buy the system is blu ray. Granted I have only seen a few blu ray disk movies, but what I have seen is fantastic. The prices for blu-ray movies are a bit highers than DVDs, but you get you money's worth if you have an HD TV.

In addition to being a great gaming machine and blu ray player it's also fantastic as a media center for movies, music, and pictures with many options for editing and organization. The system is user friendly with devices connected through USB, and with SD cards. 80GB will be plenty of space for most, and for those that need more upgrading with USB external harddrives is easy.

I love my PS3. It's not for everyone though. Those simply looking for a gaming machine and nothing more might want to wait for a price drop or go elsewhere. For those who want more than a gaming machine for the reasons I mentioned above the PS3 is the next generation console you have to own Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

The original PS2 40 GB included the computer chip to play PS2 games in native mode. Sony removed this crucially important feature in this so call "upgraded" version. It is actually a downgrade. Is Sony TRYING to lose the platform war? Its base of PS2 customers was its big advantage. Anyway, we are very disappointed with this product. To save a buck, Sony has made its own machine much less functional. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Where To Buy PlayStation 3 80GB

Monday, December 14, 2009 by Migo - Leave a comment

Please take a look at the Sony support forums before buying this or any other PS3. I have a 40G PS3 that I bought in February 2008. I bought it as a Blu-ray player in large part because it was upgradeable, but the first time I upgraded the software, the unit was turned into a useless frozen brick.

Sony says the unit will have to be replaced. They would not say how common the problem is, only that a "certain percentage" of PS3s have been destroyed by Sony's own software upgrade process. If you look at the Sony support forums you will see that many, many people have been affected with this problem.

Since mine is less then 1 year old it will cost me nothing but the inconvenience of being without the unit for several weeks and the hassles of shipping it back. But people who owned their units for more than 1 year will be charged $150 for the repair even though the problem is entirely created by Sony.

The Sony service rep assured me that the unit will not be destroyed again by future software upgrades, but why should I believe them, especially knowing that they will not take responsibilities for their own errors once the machine is 366 days old?

I understand that these are complex devices, but I find Sony's failure to repair the out-of-warranty units damaged by their own software upgrade to be pretty shocking.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

I've owned this system for almost four months, and haven't had that many problems. I bought this system because I was tired of having to deal with my 360 freezing all of the time. I literally spend more reseting the 360 than playing games on it; because a game would freeze or it would get a disc read error...... PS3's only real competition is the Wii IMO, as well as the profit margin for Sony.

Pros: Blu Ray playback is stunning. This particular system is quiet. USB cable for the controller is included. Games run smoothly. There aren't proprietary cables that you need to buy if you want to use the HDMI and/or Optical Sound outputs. Game graphics are top notch.
Cons: You need to use the RB/Y cable to be able to set up the other video outputs, and vise versa. You have to change the sound settings in order to switch between the RY, Optical, and HDMI sound outputs. It takes an extremely long time to update the system no matter which media you use, and it has update errors sometimes. Every game I've bought has needed an update before it could be played.

I would recommend this system over the 360 any day. Gears of War and Fable aren't enough, especially when the older 360 systems can't run them efficiently.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

The 80GB PS3 has everything as expected as a Gaming machine, plus an Multi-Media Entertainment System. Not only can you play Games, but also watch DivX video files, photos, listen to music, etc...All those video files I have downloaded I can watch on my PS3. You can also go online and watch youtube videos and browse around. It also doubles as a Blu-Ray player, which won the HD format war.

People claim that the PS3 lacks games, but that's obviously not true. There are excellent titles for every genre on the PS3, from Fighting, FPS, Sports, Platform, etc...I don't understand how anyone can claim that it lacks games, unless they haven't looked around. Plus more exclusive PS3 titles are coming in 2009....Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Although this is my second ps3 that I bought (MGS 4 Bundle Pack by far the best) it is the one with the better value of the current versions vs. Drakes Fortune bundle pack which the only difference is the hard drive capacity and 100 bucks more! While if you save those dollars buying the 80 GB version you cant get 320 Gb drive for about 75 dollars from amazon...U do the math! 475 dollars with twice the capacity and U still save 25 bucks and added value of the 320 GB and buy a casing for the 80 GB as UR back up.Sounds good? Well for me it does and any sane person would say the same. May be the only difference from this version is the more efficient hardware consuming less power and creating less heat which enhances durability by making the Superb processor better1Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

no PS2 backward compatibility

Sony is pulling a fast one. I want to buy a PS3, but my only options are on eBay w/o Sony's warranty. If you read the Sony forums many people are having issues with the Blu-Ray Drive breaking. Sony charges $160 to fix if its not in warranty or the oringal owner.

I want the freedom to buy cheap older PS2 games w/o having 2 consoles.
Wi-Fi is great, this would be perfect if it only had backward compatibility.

Stop buying this rip off and send Sony a message.

PlayStation 3 80GB This instant

It's not difficult to understand why Sony decided not to make this year's PS3 not backward compatible with PS2 games. Greed. The traditional marketing strategy was to give away the razor, and charge for the blades. Sony wants to charge for the razor and also charge for the games. I was confused when I bought this unit for my autistic son. He wanted a system that would play his PS2 games, and from what I'd read I assumed that the new 80GB model was backward compatible. Not so. Now my son is obsessed with getting the older model, which is backward compatible. So now I need to sell his new one and buy an older one. I paid $400 for the new one, and figure I'll spend another net of at least $100 in the exchage. It's really a very bad decision on Sony's part.

I will never buy a Sony product again. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Immediately

The Playstation 3 is an awesome media center allowing you to have all your entertainment on one device and sharing it easily with your other wireless devices. In comparison to the xbox 360 which is running on outdated technology (DVD) and runs games using 100% of its processing power the PS3 can run the same games without even using 50% of its processing power and supports the latest HD technology. It can very easily be called the best blu-ray player on the market right now but you pay a premium to have the best of the best. The same game will cost you up to half as much to buy for the Xbox 360 instead of the PS3, so every time you go out to buy a PS3 game you pay [...] instead of [...] that you would for xbox 360 just because its on Blu-Ray. The games wont have any noticeable difference either from Xbox 360 to PS3 unless their PS3 exclusives because video game makers will make the games so their able to run on the least powerful consle (Xbox 360) then just portal it over to other consoles. Thats why PS3 shines with its exclussive titles like Metal Gear Solid 4, Valkyria Chronicles, and God of War III. The problem is that it just doesnt have enough exclusive titles yet, most of the games that are available for PS3 are also available on Xbox 360 for up to half price.

The bundles that are offered for PS3 are also more expensive then the Xbox 360 and Wii bundles which doesnt help PS3 sales. Overall though I would recommend this product to anyone out there just wait until the price drops to around [...] for the 80gb bundle since they dont even offer you a bundled game for [...] right now.

Pros
===================
- Plays blu-rays in 1080p and upscales dvd's
- Updates firmware easily
- Easily saves movies, music, and pictures on the PS3 to share with other devices
- Free internet (no xbox live to pay)

Cons
===================
- Expensive ([...] with 0 games)
- Games are more expensive then their xbox 360 counterparts just because their on blu-ray
- Doesnt have too many GOOD exclusive titles.

PlayStation 3 80GB Best Quality

by Migo - Leave a comment

This is a great machine to purchase on its own, i won't go on a debate as to which system is better, but i shall just dive into the features of the PS3 80 gig

1. Online--- the PSN is quite nice with its set of unique features like PS Home, Life with Playstation, and the PS Store, my only complaint would have to be the download speed and the installs because i don't really much care for their user interface in that regard, but it's not a huge problem. I love the PSN and (believe it or not) i prefer it to Xbox Live simply because it is free and it fits my preferences as a casual gamer perfectly. I get online, play a game with people, and leave while not paying a fee to do so, that's all i require in an online service, just to have lag-free gaming with other gamers. Also, it would have been nice for Sony to finally put in-game music. I know that it sucks that MSFT has a patent on this (how can someone patent music inside a game?), but hopefully, the engineers at Sony are working on this problem

2. Hardware--- the PS3 hardware is just fantastic, no loud noises at all and it runs very cool and quiet. I know that it is missing the media card readers and fewer usb ports, but i suggest that anyone who wishes to attain these items should just buy the Nyko Media Hub and that should solve your problems; although, i haven't run into a problem with the lack of usb hubs since i only use the two to charge my controller and my receiver for my third party controller

3. Media---i'm quite impressed by the blu-ray player and the amount of codecs that the PS3 can display, especially streaming media off my external harddrive. The blu-ray player is nice, but i don't really use it that much since i just download my movies digitally off torrents, but since bluray has won the HD Format war, it's a very nice option to have for future reasons. The DVD player is quite nice and upconverts very nicely.

4. Gaming--- So far, i have about 16 games for my PS3 and that doesn't even include the exclusives for next year. My only complaint as far as gaming goes is the dualshock controller because i just don't like the ergonomics behind their design, but i have taken care of that problem with the Nyko Zero controller.

All in all, i believe this is a perfect system for either the casual or hardcore gamer or the multimedia enthusiatics. I'm not bothered by the lack of ps2 BC because i never owned a ps2, but i'm quite happy with my purchase of the new 80 gig ps3

Edit--- I have recently found out some things about this system that currently are an issue and i'd like to address them to those interested in buying the console. The first issue is the speed of downloads on the psn especially when updating games that are over 100mb in file size. Seriously, it is worse than downloading things on the pc. Also, there seems to be no in-game music in many ps3. I know that MSFT has a warranty on this (how does one get a patent for in-game music), but hopefully Sony can force devs to require in game soundtracks for ps3 games just like they did with trophy support. Also, i'm having trouble finding other good games, especially PS3 exclusives (i know about them, but they just don't suite my tastes, except Resistance). Overall, i'd say that the games just flat out don't compare to the xbox 360. Still, i recommend the purchase of the ps3 for anyone looking for a blu-ray player or a gaming console. PlayStation 3 80GB Get it now!

Like many this holiday season I had to decide between an Xbox 360 and a PS3. Seeing how by far most games are coming out for both systems these days with equal performance, I had to decide based on exclusive games, hardware capabilities, and overall value for the price. Here's my pros/cons for each:

PS3:
Pros
-better and more varied exclusive games (GT5, Killzone 2, Motorstorm PR, Uncharted, Ratchet, Metal Gear Solid 4, and the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII)
-Games are on blu ray, and of course you can watch blu ray movies as well. The PS3 is still one of the best performing blu ray players on the market. It's not like the PS2 which was a crappy DVD player.
-powerful hardware. While most components inside aren't much better overall than the 360, the CELL CPU is much, much more powerful than the Xenon CPU in the 360, and it can handle many GPU related tasks that the Xenon can't. This ultimately shows in exclusive games like GT5 and Killzone 2 for example. Much better looking than the best looking 360 exclusives.
-sleek hardware and software design. The system is just a beauty to look at, even if it is a dust magnet, and the operating system is so clean and easy to use.
-Backward compatible with ps1 games (ps2 games as well if you have one of the older models)
-Standard hard drive on every system (uses basic 2.5" SATA notebook drive so it's easily upgradeable)
-Standard WiFi in every system
-rechargeable controller out of the box; no need to buy any play and charge kit like MS forces you to
-hardware has very low failure rate
-Media capabilities such as photo, video, and music viewing are much better than on the 360
-Extremely quiet operation. Often times you can't hear it even if you try

Cons:
-new models no longer ps2 compatible

Xbox 360:
Pros
-has a more polished online interface and more features like cross game chat
-games drop in price faster than ps3 games because they are on DVD

Cons
-hardware not as reliable as ps3
-boring and unpolished looking exclusive games
-games are limited by the low capacity of DVD9. Devs either have to compress the hell out of their games to fit on one disc or put up with paying MS even more royalties for multi disc games. Blu ray has more than enough space for now to keep games on one disc with very little compression. This is why ps3 multiplatform games usually have support for higher quality audio. The blu ray can hold that much data.
-does not include much out of the box like ps3 does, which leads to many hidden charges.
-online play is NOT free; costs about $40 a year
-no wireless internet; must pay $100 for the official adapter or $30 for a wireless bridge. Not an issue for those who can use ethernet, but many of us play in our living rooms which are way too far from our router.
-$199 version does not include hard drive, which you will almost certainly need. The small memory it comes with can only hold a few game saves, nothing more.
-hard drive is proprietary to MS, meaning you can only use their overpriced drives.
-Loud

Overall, the ps3 was a no brainer for me, even if only for the tremendous value you get for $399. Don't be fooled by MS ads with "starting at $199". That's not what you will be paying. There's too many things that you will probably have to add to that cost. Take my example, I add a $30 wireless bridge, $100 60gb hard drive, $20 play and charge kit, $40/year online play, and I'm already pretty much at $400, the price of a ps3 WHICH INCLUDES ALL THOSE THINGS FOR FREE. And it still doesn't have blu ray. Now when I bought this ps3 all I had to buy extra was a $15 memory card adapter to transfer my ps1/ps2 saves to the hard drive. That's it.

But in the end all you should do is critically look at the features of both systems and do your research. Two traps you shouldn't fall into are the stigmas that both systems suffer from their early days. For ps3 that's "$599 and no games!" and for 360 it's "80% chance of red ring".Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Order Now

This version of the PS3 as of right now is the cheapest, and also the best. At $[...], you get a PS3 with 80gb of storage, which is more than plenty for the average user. Not to be overlooked is the blu-ray player, which has been said to be one of the best blu-ray players on the market. That is saying something, as the PS3 is primarily a video game console, and stand alone blu-ray players are still inferior to the PS3's. This also comes with a Dualshock 3 controller, which is now the only version that they sell, but is much better then the older Sixaxis that Sony bundled with the console.

While $[...] may seem like a very high price for a gaming console (which it would be if that is all you were getting), the value is unmatched. The PlayStation 3 has been out for 2 years now, and developers are just starting to dig into the power of this machine. The life of the PS3 will far exceed beyond the Wii and Xbox 360. With blu-ray built in, storage on game discs will never be a problem. Also, Sony has a great reputation of building long-lasting video game consoles (can't speak for other Sony electronics though...walkmans). I have owned the 360 since launch, and have gone through at least 5 during the 3 years it has been out.

The games are beginning to catch up to the Xbox 360. They look just as good, and the exclusive games on the console look even better. Nothing can be said about blu-ray except AMAZING. The only downside to the PS3 is that it comes with no form of HD cables, not even component. That is a very minor problem, as you can buy an HDMI cable on ebay for under $[...], but it would be nice to be able to hook it up to and HDTV with it right in the box.

Parents who can't decide to get an Xbox or PS3 - Go with a PS3. I love both of the systems, but for kids the PS3 will last longer, has free online service, and has almost as many games. Also, I have been a long time subscriber of Xbox Live (Xbox online service), and while it is worth the money, it is $[...] a year to play online. Xbox Live has started to be a cuss-fest, as every game you play there is always an annoying kid swearing on the game for no apparent reason. I tend to blame that problem on the fact that most 360s come with a microphone and there are more people on Xbox Live, which also means more idiots. If you don't want your kids exposed to that online, then don't buy them a mic and there really aren't as many trash talkers on the PlayStation Network.

This system gets a 9.0, could be a 9.5 if it lives up to its potential.
I give the Xbox 360 a 8.5 at this time in it's life cycle, as no one knows how much longer it will be around. The biggest downside for me about PlayStation 3 is that almost all of my friends are on 360.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

This console is amazing, simply put this is the ultimate entertainment system so far.
I was skeptical when I bought it, but only now I realize how great it is and the capabilities it has. It's huge !!!
Great games are starting to come out, and you really feel that the PS3 has lots of room for development.
The Blu-ray is great, DVD and Divx compatibility rocks, even though some Xvid (different from Divx) aren't supported.
You can connect an external hard drive and play video and music from there , you can also connect the PS3 to your wifi and surf the web on your TV.
As for PS2 games compatibility, they cut the backward compatibility function because the system was too expensive to manufacture, and it still is by the way, Sony is not making money in selling a PS3 console yet !!!!
A PS3 cost 448$ to make and they sell it for 399$ !!!!
In order to make this system viable and also to reduce the price for the customer they have to cut the production cost.
Seeing all this system has to offer , I think this is not a bad compromise .
Furthermore everybody knows it's not backwards compatible it's all over the web, everybody should know and make their decision from there.
It's frustrating to see people complain about things like that, if it was so important why didn't they look into it before buying?

Anyways my advice is buy this system you won't regret it.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

PlayStation 3 80GB Right now

he good: Swanky design with quiet operation; all games in high-definition; PSP-like user-friendly interface; plays high-def Blu-ray movies in addition to upscaling standard DVDs; built-in Wi-Fi and flash media reader; 60GB hard drive; online play is free; HDMI output with 1080p support; no external power supply; free online gaming service; plays PS2 and PS1 games; backwards compatibility is hardware based.

The badThe bad: Compelling exclusive games are still few and far between; PlayStation Home and rumble controller not available until 2008; a USB port on the back would've been nice; no infrared port means non-Bluetooth universal remotes aren't compatible; glossy black finish is a fingerprint magnet; online gaming, media, and commerce options not nearly as developed as Xbox Live.

The bottom lineThe bottom line: The high-end Sony PlayStation 3's larger hard drive and ability to play PS2 games makes it a worthwhile alternative to the cheaper model--so long as you're willing to wait several months for the more promising exclusive titles to hit store shelves. If backward compatibility is your top priority, this hard-to-find model may be worth the search.

The optical drive failed less than a month after the warranty expired. There are a large number of these consoles failing now, so it seems that Sony has some quality control issues with their optical drives. Hopefully they will eventually do a warranty extension like MS.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.

Low Price PlayStation 3 80GB

For gamers and movie buffs alike, Sony's Playstation 3 game console cannot be beat! Taking the successful elements of Playstation 2, and then running wild with it, PS3 is a bold leap forward for Sony and game consoles in general. For the gamer, the gameplay is fun, and with the new wireless controller, there's no more fumbling with those danged long chords. And the graphics are interstellar, and make it worth the price for gaming alone.
But the system also takes movie watching to the next level, incorporating Blu-ray High Definition, making for a clearer, sharper visual and audio experience. The system will also play regular DVD's and CD's, making it a good system to use for parties. The only drawback to the system is that it does not play PS2 games. But this is a small drawback to a fantastic gaming system. As one who loves games and movies, the PS3 gaming console from Sony is a definite must-have! I highly recommend it!

I have been debating on purchasing this for a while and I am glad I did. The graphics are great and I love watching Blu Ray's. The only thing that could be better is backward compatibility. It is a shame that Sony had to squeeze more money out of people who still enjoy the PS2 games.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.
