Talked to a PS3 rep for the Walmart in West Hills, CA and he said that it cost around $100 for the chip to play PS2 games to be installed into the PS3. Unfortunately these are no longer able to play older PS2 games... other than that I would say it's the best Blu-ray player on the market for the price - you can update the firmware wirelessly.
