This is my first Playstation system, never had a PS, or PS2...

I always thought the $400+ price tag on the PS3 was astronomical, so I waited till it was $399 to seriously consider it as a console. Still, I thought it was very expensive. I finally cracked down and bought one, and I have had it for 7 months now. I can honestly say, its well worth the price, and it is hands down, the most addicting entertainment system EVER! I was never comfortable calling it an entertainment system before I got it, but now I see why they call it that. It does so much more than just play video games!!! I recommend the PS3 to any gamer who is pondering picking one up. It is the BEST purchase I've ever made!

Pros:
- Games - Graphics, Game play, Addictiveness
- 80 GB - More than enough space, I can't see why you'd need any more!
- Blu-ray play - added bonus as I see it
- DVD player
- Game Controllers - easy to get used to, USB charging, navigate everything on ps3 with game controller(blu-ray, all menus, etc)
- Playstation Network - Free, and TONS of downloads, games, movies, add-ons, etc.
- Friends - Add friends, message in game to them, chat, blu-tooth voice in game. Friend feature is one of the best. Playing with your friends has never been more fun and EASY!!!
- Internet Browser - I never really use it, buts its fun to search for a picture to copy in a message to a friend on the ps3... comes in handy.
- A lot more that I'm forgetting, but Pro's FAR outweigh the cons!!!

Cons:
- Price tag - Biggest CON obviously, if it was $300-$350, it'd be a lot more attractive, but at $400, its still a crazy bargain for what it packs!
- HDMI Cable(not included) - Have to buy an HDMI cable, if you're going to use one, which you absolutely MUST if you want the best quality!
- HOT - like any other piece of electronics, the PS3 gets hot, so if you play in the summer, be prepared to pump the A/C or make sure you compensate for the heat it will pump into your playing area! It doesn't get THAT hot, but warms up the place, good in the winter!!!
- Privacy - the stalking capabilities are immense with the friend features, you can see who you recently played online in games, see what your friends are currently playing, etc. So if you're paranoid, then you might want to pick an obscure PSN name... or just stop being paranoid!!!
- Size - Some people think its big, I think its just perfect, not extremely heavy, but compared to other consoles, I suppose its bigger, but not really a con, but I'll add it!

Thats pretty much it, I've only ever had my PS3 freeze on me... 3 times, and I unplugged the A/C power, and it came right back on, no RING of death like xbox users. And I've PLAYED....... A LOT!!!!
