PlayStation 3 80GB

The 80 GB is a great machine. Losing backwards compatibility is a disappointment, but the quietness and dramatic decrease in power consumption are huge additions. Comparing the 60GB to the 80, the new machine is a bit smaller and is cooler (temperature wise). I have been playing the Little Big Planet Beta and this is for sure a hit game, hopefully the release of this highly anticipated title will increase the sales of the PS3. Having owned the PS3 and 360, I will say that the free online multiplayer and built in wifi and bluray make this a no brainer.

Let me do a quick comparison. To equal the PS3, the 360 will need the following: wifi connector ($80), battery charging components (I believe $10) the 360 remotes come from the factory requiring two AA batteries, while the ps3 has rechargeable ones, blu-ray drive (dream on), year of xbox live ($60)

cost of 360 pro: $300
total cost of 360 pro to equal 80 gb PS3: about $450 (without blu-ray drive and lacking 20GB in storage)

Not to mention Sony's impeccable record of reliability with the Playstation 3 console.

I am sticking with Sony, a decision I will not regret, especially on 10/21/2008: release of Little Big Planet.

For anyone on the fence, it's time to hop off.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 80GB.
